Oakland post-metal greats Kowloon Walled City have released a new track, “Oxygen Tent.” Since their formation the band has been in a continuous cycle of refinement, gradually peeling away layers of grit and distortion to form a singular vision of heavy music—yielding a pair of critically acclaimed LPs along the way in Container Ships and Grievances. The new song, their first in over six years, distills things even further as the band continues into a new era of their career. Listen to “Oxygen Tent” below and stay tuned for more news soon.
Ponte Pilas new single ‘Tinderbox’ a Fridays For Future collaboration song
On the 13th of August, Ponte Pilas released their new single ‘Tinderbox’. The fifth single of their upcoming EP ‘So It Goes’ is a song that was written after the band had been invited to Weimar to play for their Fridays For Future protests. With two vegan members, and actively involved in Extinction Rebellion and Music Declares Emergency, the band has been committed to environmental causes for some time. After seeing up close the work that the students in Weimar were doing was a much-needed reminder that change was possible and, indeed, in the hands of these young people, seemed inevitable.
Manchester newcomers Mister Strange deliver more fuzzed out frequencies on audacious new track ‘Moving Along’ – out today as the latest offering from upcoming EP ‘I’, released September 10th via PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, YUNG, HOLY).
On “Promise,” the opening track from their sophomore album AH HA, Abby Huston takes on the voice of a brokenhearted tv-drama boy band character, very much in the same vein as Gilmore Girls’ Jesse. “Why don’t you love me, give me a reason why,” they sing solemnly, lamenting about unreturned love. Their tender words are surrounded by an eclectic mash of a hip-hop drumbeat, acoustic guitar strums, wandering piano bits, and jingle bells. Despite the jovial atmosphere, that touch of melodrama, which lingers in the corners of Huston’s songs, is a significant trademark for the Richmond-based musician. “If I’m writing a song, it’s gonna be a little moody,” Huston reveals, their words curling as they smile.

‘Happy All The Time’ was written a few years ago by Sam and Mary Gauthier; it was produced by Bobby Holland and Sean McConnell, and features country music icon, Dolly Parton. The wistful and moving track is a reflection of the struggles to fill the kind of void that no material wealth ever could.
With rebellious, yet fun lyrics like breaking all the rules like they’re going out of style, I don’t know what’s got into me, my heart is going wild, “Good Trouble” will leave listeners yearning for their own guilty pleasures. Justine produced and mixed this track herself and co-wrote the song with Liz Moriondo.

January Jane Single “Versions of You” – Top 40 in the US
Though the recording process for the EP spanned different times and time zones, the band says that EP listeners can expect to hear a “late night party in New York City – champagne, Gray’s Papaya and all the fun, with none of the hangover.” “This EP is like a medley of all of our experiences in NYC and beyond,” says Mitchell. “We recorded some of the album in our ‘clubhouse’ in Midtown, Manhattan, some in Brooklyn, and some in LA. Next time around, we’ll try to record in all five boroughs… but every space has its own energy, so we really try to utilize that in a metaphysical way, of course.”
Los Angeles post-rock outfit Gypsum emerge with the announcement of their eponymous debut seven years in the making. Out today, “Follow Me,” is the first track to come off this self-titled album (release date: October 12, 2021 via Sonic Ritual). The track is a lustrous, percussion-driven indie rock tune that guitarist and vocalist Sapphire Jewell says was inspired by the people throughout history who have been forced to leave their home and seek refuge. “It’s not about any one movement but rather the constant stream of innocent people who’ve chosen between starting a new life elsewhere or risking their lives to stay. It’s sort of a privilege check and that security isn’t permanent.” Rounded out by guitarist and vocalist Anna Arboles and drummer Jessy Reed, Gypsum is a synergistic exercise in collectivist arrangement, dissolving artistic ego into cooperativity.

Pip Blom Share New Single & Video “You Don’t Want This” || New Album ‘Welcome Break’ Due Out 10/8 On Heavenly Recordings
Talking about the video, director Sara Elzinga said: “When I first heard You Don’t Want This, I recognized the feeling of self-consciousness; knowing that people have a certain way of looking at you, that does not necessarily comply with the image you have of yourself. The concept of a Matryoshka doll then stuck in my head, having these multiple versions of yourself that are hidden at first. The set reminds us of a dollhouse, of someone who is so comfortable in their own scenery, they forget to look at the world outside of the room. Though rather than making a music video about anxiety, I wanted the video to be about self-acceptance. Smiling back at yourself, instead of constantly criticizing which is something people tend to do.”
