Melbourne Powerhouse THE UGLY KINGS Premiere New Song “The Devil Comes With A Smile”!

Following 2018’s Darkness Is My Home, which was lauded by the likes of Classic Rock Magazine and Loud Mag upon release, with Strange, Strange Times, the four- piece is poised to turn heads and continues to infuse their foreboding alt-rock with blackened blues and gritty punk edge! THE UGLY KINGS may channel the flavor of groups like Queens Of The Stone Age and Danzig, but their revitalizing infusion of dark energy is evident while preserving razor sharp, daringly introspective control with clever lyricism, addictive riffage, catchy melodies and a heavy power blues flavor.

Wye Oak announce Civilian 10-year anniversary reissue, share newly unearthed b-side “Electricity”

Ten years after its release, Wye Oak’s Civilian remains a raw, sinewy punch of a record—bleak and intense and lonely and self-assured all at once. The album unravels with the sort of self-questioning and uncertainty that come with youth, and its specific confidence in unflinchingly probing all of those emotions. When Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner released Civilian, it marked both the ascension and death of Wye Oak, or at least a version of it. Now, a decade later, Civilian + Cut All the Wires: 2009–2011 delves back into that pivotal record and adds a lost album of unreleased tracks and demos to Civilian’s universe.

Like the rest of the album, songwriter Noah Weinman plays most of the instruments throughout the song (including guitar, banjo, bass, piano, and synth), and is here joined by Sam Graf on drums. “Although this isn’t the oldest song in the batch, this feels like the first Runnner song,” Weinman explains.

CUFFED UP- La Quartet Release Vital New Single: “Canaries”

Making an explosive debut on the label, “Canaries” is a furious, full-throttle rush of Cuffed Up’s patently passionate alternative-rock. Recalling the intemperate masterworks of Sonic Youth or Placebo through to contemporaries like IDLES and Dry Cleaning, it’s a track about living life on the edge and reaping the consequences of precarious misadventure.

Steven Bernstein Releases “Planet B” – New Video & Single From ‘Tinctures In Time (Community Music, Vol. 1)’

“‘Planet B’ is one of the first original compositions I wrote for MTO after almost 20 years of arranging the American songbook for the band. The piece uses elements that I’ve been exploring for years: Ellington, Machito, Sun Ra and Gil Evans, a simple ‘folk’ melody, all over a true MTO-style groove,” explains Bernstein. “When it came time to make my first music video, I reached out to Kit Fitzgerald, a pioneer in the video world who has collaborated with artists from many disciplines including drummer Max Roach, choreographer Donald Byrd and poet Anne Waldman. I asked her to make something beautiful, something she would make for herself. I wanted her to create her own narrative, different from anything I could imagine. And she did.”

The Joy Formidable share video for new single “Chimes” | New album “Into The Blue” out Aug 20 via Hassle Records

Into The Blue follows the band’s critically acclaimed, kaleidoscopic 2018 album AAARTH, during which the band played the mainstage at Reading & Leeds Festival, supported Foo Fighters on their North American tour, and were invited by The Cure’s Robert Smith to play his Meltdown Festival at the South Bank, London, and Pasadena Daydream Fest in LA. The band’s new album will arrive into a much different world this time around, but it is birthed possessing a new energy and inventiveness. Even during the worst of times, their music finds a way to inspire and thrive.

Xenia Rubinos announces new album “Una Rosa”

Xenia Rubinos has announced the highly-anticipated release of her third album, Una Rosa, on 15th October via Anti- Records. Joe Taylor Sutkowski (Dirt Buyer, ffo Alex G, Lomelda) | Announces debut album / Shares single

Musically, Sutkowski sits in an emo-folk tradition, taking inspiration from the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel and Elephant 6, as well as a lesser-known side project of Julian Koster titled Chocolate USA. To me, there are hints of the likes of Car Seat Headrest, Alex G and Lomelda poking through on tracks, glimmers of this mid-90s alt-rock and battle-worn folk-rock with spurts of fuzzy, burnt out guitar textures sputtering underneath. It’s pretty compelling stuff and I find Sutkowski’s voice a brilliant asset to the imaginative stories too.
