Artist: Stef Taylor – Track: Rusty
Rusty was the first song I had written in a while and I was nervous. I’d always written music but had taken a hiatus due to terrible excuses. The first lockdown gave me a bit of time to re-evaluate what I wanted to do in-terms of goals and ambitions. I decided I wanted to write music again and I must admit I wrote some stinkers. However, instead of giving up I kept the faith and kept telling myself that I hadn’t “lost it” but in fact I was just rusty.. and as long as I persisted, the songs would come. The first one I wrote that I was happy with was Rusty.. and it basically tells the story of the process I just outlined. Ironically, writing Rusty helped me to work off the rust and open the door to what was a very enjoyable writing process.
FAKY Releases New Music Video for “HappyEverAfter”
“‘HappyEverAfter’ is about finding happiness after a heartbreak. When I shared my feelings with Lil’ Fang about what happened to me, I wanted to make sure that she knew that even if I got hurt and even if I went through a hard time, the only thing I want for that person is happiness. I didn’t get my “happy ever after” but I know the others did and that fills my heart. This song is not a sad song, It’s just a song about moving forward.” – Taki, member of FAKY

Artist: Cocomofo – Track: Rain
Cocomofo’s debut single “Rain”, arrives on April 30th, 2021, via New York’s Abu Recordings. After a lush, piano-driven opening soundscape, the song opens up into a psychedelic blues soundtrack exploring the melancholic force of rain and its ability to wash away all that lives and breathes. Despite its acoustic bass and percussive sections harkening to compositional trademarks of old, Rain tackles modern themes of our time – identity, crisis, and the idea of rebirth. Recorded as a one-take session in New York in late 2019 and performed at their weekly residency at Nublu pre-pandemic, Cocomofo’s Rain serves as a timely reminder that New York city’s live music scene is still very much alive and well, waiting to be reborn.
