Black TarPoon – The Thad EP – Self released – 5 February 2021
Black TarPoon are pleased to announce they will be releasing The Thad EP on vinyl on February 5th 2021.. A family band hailing from Corpus Christi, Texas, Black TarPoon serves up brutally honest American roots music inspired by Goddamn Gallows, Clutch, early Misfits, and more.
With Jesse James (acoustic guitar/lead vocals) and Oatmeal Reed (bass/dirty vocals) at the helm, Black TarPoon tells tales of loss, addiction, and so-called hillbilly life in 2020. Jesse and Oatmeal are joined by Jesse’s wife and Oatmeal’s sister Tashia The Don on washboard/backing vocals, Jesse’s father Billy Mo on lead guitar/backing vox, and family friend Chi Chi Picante on drums. (Do you need a chart to keep track of this? We might need a chart.) The band says of their tongue-in-cheek name, “We assure you it’s not slang for a woman’s private parts. We use the word ‘poon’ as in a foolish person. The name is basically an anti-heroin reference. We’ve had loved ones pass away due to heroin overdose… Heroin can make the best of us fools.”
WEIRD TALES set to release Blues cover EP!
Polish Psychedelic Doom act of three – Weird Tales thicken the plot of their tale with a brand new EP – “Y’all Motherfuckers Forgot ‘Bout Good Ol’ Son Of A Bitchin’ Blues”. Which, like everything else from this twisted trio, dares to go far outside the confines of what you would expect from a doom album.
With this record, Weird Tales pays homage to the true founding fathers. Where it all began, the kings of blues! With out blues, there is no rock, with out rock there is no doom metal, and without doom metal, well, let’s not even speculate where Weird Tales would be.
The concept of this album – pass the blues through the Weird Tales prism, twisting and bending it until it’s barely recognizable. Catch the essence of each track, wrap it with our heavy riffs and extrapolate. The result? The heaviest blues album ever put forth!
