OUT TODAY: Haunting and Dark EP from LA-Based Grunge Rockers The Waking Point, Premiered via V13.net
Originally from Chicago, Belica broadened her musical abilities studying music production and vocal performance at Hollywood’s Musicians Institute. It was there where she began to develop her unique theatrical live performances, taking inspiration from Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Korn, and Alice Cooper. Belica’s first learning experiences with music consisted of teaching herself to play Nirvana covers on guitar while studying for her PhD in Australia in 2017. When she moved to Los Angeles to begin her education at the Musicians Institute, she began to embrace a DIY method when it came to writing, recording, and producing, learning her way through each aspect of the process. Belica’s artist name The Waking Point was influenced by the general public’s resistance towards the threat of climate change and its effects on the planet.

Singer/Songwriter Pete Muller Premieres Video for the Hopeful “God and Democracy”
“There are relatively calm periods in American history, and somewhat turbulent ones,” Muller explains, “let’s face it – we’re in a turbulent one, with a pandemic and a large amount of divisiveness and mistrust throughout the country.” “Our foundations are showing cracks. People are feeling despair,” he continues. “‘God and Democracy’ is about how hopeless that might feel, but it is at its heart an optimistic song. I believe in this country, and we will find our way, as we have in the past.”
Accompanied by a live band, the rhymes and hooks hover over acoustic guitar and airy keys. The words take center stage as G Herbo and Chance the Rapper deliver each line with intent. A photo of late collaborator Juice WRLD watches over them aglow in candlelight. This unplugged rendition of “PTSD” exerts its own power as it amplifies the track’s key statement on the importance of mental health and self-care beyond self-preservation.
