(HED) P.E. Release New Single “First Blood” from Upcoming Album, “Class of 2020”

“I wanted it to sound like the best garage band ever,” explains frontman Jared Gomes. “Like you went to your friend’s band practice and were totally blown away. This track kicks off the record and I can’t wait to open the show with it at a club near you. It will fuckin’ shred. One guitar, one bass, one riddim, one mic. Definitely some ’70s punk rock influence. The Clash and Minor Threat were on my mind a lot. The pendulum swung and whereas the last album was futuristic, this one is bare bones. These tracks will translate in the club. Straight up non-apologetic ‘merican rock and roll.”

Berlin – a city celebrated for it’s hyper-liberated queer culture and sexual hedonism – is the backdrop of 21-year-old Finn Ronsdorf. Raised in a small village in the Black Forest of Germany, he discovered early on that there must be more than a dictated path through life and that it can be found only within oneself. Looking for more than the casual encounters that define so many in the city, Finn’s songs question the concept of a love based on jealousy and possession.

A devouring fusion of thrash, psychedelic, stoner, and doom elements with lyrics based on personal stories reinterpreted in the realm of mythological tales, DEATHCAVE’s Smoking Mountain revolves around the concept of inevitable death and decay of not only humans, but nature as well. “Just south of Seattle, the Klickitats called Mount St. Helens ‘Louwala-Clough,’ while the Cowlitz tribes called it ‘Lavelatla,'” elaborates bassist/vocalist Freiburger. “These two terms had the exact same meaning: ‘Smoking Mountain.’ This idea is what cemented the name and general theme of the record.”

An ode to Giallo, 70’s crime flicks and French new wave cinema; Bastien Keb’s third album ‘The Killing of Eugene Peeps’ is an imagined score of downbeat anti-ballads, cinematic instrumentals, psychedelic-folk and warped soliloquies. Set for an October 9th release via Gearbox Records, the album was oiginally made in three parts: film score, soundtrack and incidental music; the record develops in a dream like state, a narrator periodically guiding the listener between songs of longing and regret – “I always wanted more, I always hoped there was more”.
