DEXATEENS NEW LP “LIVE FROM ATHENS, GA – HEATHENS HOMECOMING 2020” OUT TODAY!

Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama the Dexateens have built an institution from their fiery brand of punk and roll. Since 1998, as one line-up or another, they’ve left jaws agape and arms akimbo as if some kind of inadvertent hypnotism has occurred. Their first two releases, a self-titled southern punk masterpiece lovingly known as “Headphones” and their sophomore effort Red Dust Rising both came out on the legendary Estrus Records label.

Del Paxton return with “September”

Driven by bold hooks and harmonic riffs, the Buffalo trio Del Paxton make heartfelt punchy emo reminiscent of the melodic sensibilities of the mid-90’s. Their latest are a set of singles teeming with the exuberance and excitement of being young, alive, and earnest. The lead single, “September” is an ode to camping in the Adirondacks, evoking vintage emo and punk nostalgia, while lyrically channelling an anti-nostalgic balm for living in the moment. Reflections on long-term friendships shine through call-and-response vocals that echo euphorically over dexterous rhythms and crunchy start-stop melodies. With their overdriven choruses of diaristic contemplation, Del Paxton’s thoughtful ruminations stir up the passions of prolonged youth and the challenges of holding onto friends you could never let go.

ELM: Cvlt Nation Debuts “Whole Year Inn” Video From Italian Noise Rock Unit

Notes the band of the Sin City-inspired clip, “‘Whole Year Inn’ is a quote from a book we love: Leaving Las Vegas by John O’Brien. It’s the name of an imaginary hotel, where the strange, moving love story between Sera, Ben and self-destruction is consumed. Such a perfect story: a kind of bright nightmare, in which even the sunlight is cold. There is no escape, and you chose to embrace it.”

Roberts drew a wealth of praise last year from Paste, The Line of Best Fit, Stereogum, DIY and more for the latest Corridor record, Junior – the band’s third full length but debut on the esteemed label, Sub Pop. Now he returns with his second solo record, Disparitions via Montreal indie label, Michel Records (Halo Maud, Alex Nicol), that draws on a similar wiry post-punk palette while fusing it with the sounds of 80s jangle-pop. This first track, ‘Springsteen’ is a real highlight for me with Jonathan exploring the idea of missing home whilst on tour, overlaying twelve-string guitar with sun-washed vocals leaving for something he terms as “spaghetti western rock”.

Kennen – “CITY LIGHTS” OUT NOW

“I feel like I’ve watched too many coming-of-age stories. It sucks to feel like you’ve never had any main character moments in your own life, unlike what you see in those movies and tv shows.

NEW RELEASE: Salt Cathedral’s “CAVIAR” Remix

Salt Cathedral will release a completely reimagined version of the CARISMA album (Ultra) and have shared the first taste with “CAVIAR Reimagined *in Isolation* ”. The intimacy in the new arrangement has a volcano of emotions just on the edge of erupting as the serenity of the songs first half gives way to fractured rhythms.

THIS WILL DESTROY YOU Presents Variations & Rarities: 2004-2019 Vol. II

Variations & Rarities: 2004-2019 Vol. II focuses heavily on the Self-Titled LP-era, giving all a previously-unseen and unheard glimpse behind the curtain at some of the early stages and ideas for songs that ultimately became the band’s most successful album to date. “Villa Del Refugio (Study)” is the earliest-known recording of the band conceptualizing the song and exploring its tonality. These particular chord progressions made it through to the end. “They Move On Tracks Of Never-Ending Light (Concept)” is a raw practice recording/run-through of the song with live drums, well before the song ultimately was smoothed out with electronic beats and full production. The feel at this point in gestation was almost a hybrid between “They Move…” and “The Mighty Rio Grande,” so it made sense to keep pushing “They Move…” into different territory sonically.

NEW Single and Video: Michael Lukes – “Stars” (UK, indie folk)

As the artist himself points out: “In Stars I wanted to represent just this concept: the equality of people. Each one of us, then, when we understand that we belong to it, can be what we want and, above all, can be happy”.
