Paper Idol Shares “Ready For Love” Video Via American Songwriter, New EP Out This Friday Via Lowly

Paper Idol has shared the video “Ready For Love” off of upcoming EP Money For Flowers. The video was premiered with American Songwriter. “On “Ready For Love” KG initially wanted something that would play well in the lobby of a ritzy hotel, but what was crafted is layered in iridescent, pop melodies and dancehall thumps that are too cool for school. I mean, what muzak-laden hotel would want to play that?” praised American Songwriter.

Old 97’s Return With New Album “Twelfth”

Old 97’s, the iconic alt-country outfit fronted by Rhett Miller, is returning with their twelfth album, the aptly titled Twelfth, to be released on August 21 on ATO Records. Twenty-seven years in, Old 97’s still features its original lineup – Miller, guitarist Ken Bethea, bassist Murry Hammond, and drummer Philip Peeples – and Twelfth is a testament to the band’s staying power. The album’s cover image of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach is both an homage to Miller’s childhood hero and a recognition that, in making their livings as musicians, the 97’s themselves have achieved their lifelong dreams.

LA’s Momma—a four-piece led by co-singers/guitarists/songwriters Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten—today shared the video for “Derby,” a standout, guitar-driven track off the band’s new album Two of Me out now via Danger Collective Records. Directors Matthew James-Wilson and Julia Shapiro explain their process: “We created this video by collaging different 2D and 3D animation techniques. We wanted its style to match that of the Two of Me album cover, by using torn xerox sheets, figurines, and construction paper. The song tells the story of a fixed horse race that takes place in the album’s alternate reality, The Bug House, so we created our own version of a surreal derby.

NEW RELEASE: Loyal Lobos “Si Te Portas Mal (Be Bad)” OUT NOW

Everlasting—a work that blends gigantic pop hooks with Latin rhythms, shoegaze, and traditional folk with dazzling, genre-blurring ambition— is, as Silva explains, “a place where there are no rules.” She sings in both English and Spanish, drawing on every part of her history just as easily as she melds influences ranging from South American folk to Cocteau Twins, the psychedelic hip-hop of Flying Lotus to the dreamy side of Mazzy Star. “I’ve never been one thing,” Silva says. “I always struggled with not fitting in one category. I felt I was too not-American to do folk music, and not Latin enough to do Latin music. For this album, I created my own space.”

Wood & Wire To Release “No Matter Where It Goes From Here” On August 28th

“I don’t like bluegrass, but I love you guys,” is something Wood & Wire hear often from new fans, and while the band never claims to defy categorization—they are, after all, a four-piece band made up of guitar, bass, banjo, and mandolin—they certainly ignore the notion of musical boundaries. On August 28th, Wood & Wire will release No Matter Where It Goes From Here, a whirlwind of songs and styles sprung from the band’s punk, hardcore, and jazz backgrounds and crafted into a cohesive, collective work; one certainly capable of earning yet another Grammy nomination for the band.
