This single is accompanied by a Rumi quote. “To love is human. To Feel pain is human. Yet to still love despite the pain is pure angel.” You get the feeling from listening to this music that it’s mainly about loving through the pain. This piece of music features violinist Ali Tajvidi, and it is quite the beautifully sad soundscape.
Mr. Tajvidi has quite the resume, too. He was a music professor at the School of National Music and Tehran University. It’s been said he composed over 150 songs during his lifetime. He came from an artistic family, as his dad was a respected painter. He is considered by many to be one of the best Iranian violinists. It shows here.
This single includes the description, “epic cinematic music.” This is an apt descriptor because this is a widely sweeping and cinematic piece of music. To have violin as its primary instrument is appropriate. Long before movie soundtracks incorporated nearly every conceivable musical style into its overall makeup, music – and particularly classically-inspired music – was the most commonly applied movie music. There is a pained romanticism running through this piece of visually-inspired music.
The track begins slowly and quietly. It’s somber and reflective, as well. When Tajvidi enters into the piece, his playing has a touch of gypsy feel to it. Soon, pounding percussion is also included. This percussion comes and goes, though, and is not – say – the type of percussion one always hears in dance music. This is not music meant to move the listener, though. It is, instead, a sonic intended to put emotion in motion, so to speak. It will cause you to be reflective. Perhaps, you’ve experienced pain from a lost love. This pain could also be due to the breakup with a former lover. It may be related to a lost loved one who has since passed on. In fact, this music’s dark nature makes it perfect for the soundtrack-ing of a funeral scene in a film.

Although much of this track’s instrumentation is associated with classical music, it would be incorrect term this as simply classical music. It is mostly a combination of string instruments, but it combines orchestration with more Middle Eastern sonic elements. Then again, many films combine unlikely elements to create just the right mood for a scene.
It’s a little odd listening to cinematic music without the accompanying visual. Also, without words and singing, it’s left to the listener to create his/her own movie for this recorded track. Maybe it will remind you of a movie you’ve seen before. Then again, it might cause you to create something altogether new in your mind. Such is the power and the beauty of instrumental music. Listening to this piece is like somebody pouring all the Crayons out of the box next to a pad of paper. The picture is yours to create. These various instrumental segments are like the hints that lead you along. Ultimately, you are to create your own mental images. Everybody’s images will be unique. “Empty With” is sad, beautiful and a whole bunch of emotions wrapped into one short, but striking, piece of music.
