On ‘Lyra’, the band (reduced to a quartet) weave a narrative influenced by post-rock, jazz, and minimalism, continuously evolving in intensity before attaining its cathartic peak. Built around a hard-hitting rhythm section, hypnotising piano patterns roll seamlessly into jolting, Reichian guitar loops. Despite all the different elements at play the track never feels disjointed. There is a distinct groove throughout driven by pulsating sub-octave bass lines, which propels the track forward.

The band’s new single, ‘Lots of Nights Out’, bursts straight out of the gate with two intertwining guitar lines. Complementing and competing, the two create a frantic indie soundscape while bass and drums combine to keep the peace. The chorus’ catchy hook is deceptively bright and poppy, distracting from the tension and exhaustion expressed in the lyrics. In the track’s penultimate offering, the lyrical tone switches up and delivers a mantra to reassure: ‘just give it time, time will heal, it’ll be okay’. The song sets out to take you through many different headspaces before setting you up to do it all again.

Lyrically, Rachl took inspiration from ‘The Witcher,’ continuing our trend of songs being influenced from a variety of fandoms, including ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘World of Warcraft,’ ‘The Legend of Zelda’ and ‘Doctor Who.'”

Suddenly I remembered this nursery-rhyme we used to sing in first grade at school, with the lyrics «A smile – it’s quite a funny thing to see what smiles can do. You smile at one, he smiles at you, and so one smile makes two». Haha, it’s kind of stupid, but I really like that. And it’s kind of true as well. Smiles are cool. This is also the first track I’m releasing that I produced myself, so that’s cool for me.”
