Brand-New Pop Act Rory Webley Reveals New Single “Genie in a Bottle”

The new single is taken from Rory’s upcoming EP Are You Scared Yet? the release of which is expected soon. “Genie In A Bottle” illustrates Rory’s unique blend of moody, atmospheric pop and dark, subject matter and is the follow up to recent single “Friendly Neighborhood Poltergeist,” released in April. “Friendly Neighborhood Poltergeist” has been streamed more than 300,000 times to date and has been picked up by a number of prominent Tik-Tok influencers.

The Take Away – the brand new alternative super group, featuring the combined talents of Kevin Thrasher (Escape the Fate) and Matt McAndrew (Slaves, The Voice) – has burst onto the scene with the formation’s electric first single “Sad About Nothing”. This first track marks the beginning of a beautiful partnership for Thrasher (who is also responsible for the engineering of one of the most highly anticipated, upcoming albums in music at the moment – MGK’s “Tickets To My Downfall”, produced by Travis Barker) and McAndrew, who have a joint musical sensibility that is at once raw, emotive and inescapably catchy.

“i’ll come back to you” follows Powfu’s massive hit “death bed (coffee for your head)” and the previously-released track “im used to it”. “death bed (coffee for your head)” originally took off on TikTok, where the song has now soundtracked over 5 Million videos to date, and has since exploded off the platform and into the mainstream. The song continues to sit in the Top 10 on Spotify’s Global 50 and Top 5 on Shazam’s Global 200. The beabadoobee collab has steadily climbed the Billboard Hot 100 week by week and currently sits at #31. The track is now certified Gold in seven countries, including the US, and has accumulated over half a Billion streams to date.

Slick synths and sparse bass entwine with 808s on “Wounded/Surrounded” as Kid Bloom’s dynamic vocals echo above a glitchy beat. The track sets up a confessional ambience: “I get so lost in my devotion,” his voice rings out. “I designed some drums and made this vibe on my computer,” he recalls. “It became a very alive and moving piece of music. Out of that, I hopped on a shitty little mic and sang the whole song. It’s about how it’s never good to victimize yourself. There are times where you feel like all you can do is pull away and shut everything out. You’re having an internal conversation and separating yourself from judgment.”

Loud Forest – Entitled “Costa Rica”

Bernard and Rachel Chadwick are the husband-and-wife duo that create pop/rock music imbued with love and artisanship. Theirs is an enviable creative relationship built around making more of themselves and the world through collaboration. The band started while Bernard was earning his MFA at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. It was a way for rock to fuse into art and art to fuse into rock. This became the exact intention of their music going forward. The band’s incorporation of pop sensibilities, ethereal vocals, insightful lyrics and rock undertones give them a sound that is unique, fun and sure to keep you grooving.

Toronto Bedroom Pop Artist Aunty Social Remixed by FaltyDL

Aunty Social (real name Daniela Gitto) shares the first of several remixes of tracks from her debut EP, The Day My Brain Broke. Out today is New York producer FaltyDL’s take on her video game inspired single, “Cortex.” Daniela explains, “I hope this gets everyone dancing as much as it got me to! It’s a true honour to have Faltys signature style bring a new sound to my song.” FaltyDL adds, “The muse behind the remix was easy to find, I heard it immediately in Aunty Social’s vocals. Normally, I’d spend most of my time rebuilding vocals in a remix. In this case, I focused on supporting the already stellar vocal performance.” The upcoming remixes will include new versions of other EP tracks from Porches, FWAR and jennylee of Warpaint. More details to be announced.

Watch Libby Rodenbough’s (of Mipso) Official Video for “Colors”

Of “Colors,” Rodenbough says,” “I wrote this song so many years ago I can’t remember what I was thinking when it came out. But I still identify with the notion of fraudulence—who doesn’t? I guess I have always been big on clothes and shoes and broaches and bolo ties, and like any proclivity it has made me wonder what I’m compensating for. When I was younger and more awkward I felt I was going to have to develop some sleights of hand because I wasn’t exactly high-school hot and it seemed at the time like that was the pinnacle of achievement. I took note of the way people dressed themselves up, not just literally but with tics and quirks and music taste and all the rest, and I absorbed a lot of them into a kind of hodgepodge personality. Since then I’ve been working on relaxing but that comes with a kneejerk fear that, if you peel away those accumulated layers, you end up with not much.”

Skope | Drugs new video – ‘Try Me’

Avant-garde pop-rock band Drugs has just announced their debut album — Episodic, out August 7 on Park The Van — alongside lead single/video “Try Me”. The track propels listeners into the sky and drops them on their ass with manic fast rhythms and vengeful lyrics.

Following the release of A Love Letter To You 4 – his first album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart – 20-year-old rap phenom, Trippie Redd, teams up with PARTYNEXTDOOR for his latest single “Excitement,” via 10K Projects/ Caroline. Dramatic and sensual, “Excitement” features PARTYNEXTDOOR’s irresistible, dark R&B vocals and finds Trippie Redd pushing the limits of our expectations.

“’Watch Me.’ is about possessiveness,” explains Psyclo. “I hate to hear stories about ‘I’m-yours-you’re-mine’ relationships.” On the surface, it sounds lovely but it’s actually scary. A relationship will grow dark once possessiveness seeps in. It’s a trap when you start thinking about if you’re equal in a relationship, then you start to judge what you do and what the other person does.”
