Singer/songwriter Ruthie Collins shared today the new video for her single “Joshua Tree.” The video is the latest peak into her anticipated sophomore album which will release this spring via Sidewalk/Curb Records. Directed by Cal + Aly, “Joshua Tree” features a modern-day setting inspired by the tragic story of Gram Parson’s passing in Joshua Tree. It debuted on CMT who called it “heartbreaking.”
“Gram’s story hits very close to home for me, it was a pretty heart-wrenching day filming this video,” stated Collins. “There was just so much emotion surrounding it. We filmed half of the video at the Joshua Tree Inn in the actual room that he passed in too, so that was a wildly surreal and pretty spooky experience. Cal and Aly were a dream to work with and I feel like they pulled every ounce of emotion out of me and the song to create this beautiful video. It’s a journey of love and loss, of tragic heartbreak and surrendering to the pain, and the resurrection in the hope of life and love continuing on somehow.”
