Loscil reworks Michael Red’s ambient alias Souns, streaming at Self-Titled

With Souns — the art driven ambient project by Vancouver-based producer Michael Red — he explores themes that are reflective of the natural world, the unseen world, outer space, and transcendence. Performances are largely intuitive and improvised, sometimes guided. The audio is an immersive world of deep sonic output, lucid introspection, and seemingly endless layers of sound. Typically there are no “drums” in Souns material, though there might be a detectable pulse. But with the upcoming release of ‘Sun Inside The Sun (Remixes)’ , out May 31st on Subtempo Records as follow up to 2017’s Aquamarine LP, Red has tapped a variety of boundary pushing artists who reinterpret and reconfigure the Souns ethos.
