Australian artist, Meg Mac debuts powerful song + video, “Give Me My Name Back”

Today, Australian songstress Meg Mac has unveiled the song and accompanying video for “Give Me My Name Back,” her first new music since 2017’s ‘Low Blows.’ Directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, the video serves as a rallying cry about reclaiming identity, dignity and self-worth in a post-#MeToo era.
“This is a song for everyone who has lost an important part of themselves, which they need to reclaim in order to move forward with their life,” says Meg of the track. “It’s for the women who are standing up and speaking out, those discriminated against in the LGBTQI community, the indigenous people of Australia and the children abused by the church”

“I could relate to the sense of loss that Meg was singing about – overwhelming grief for the story that belongs to so many women,” adds director, Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore. “With that in mind, the choice to bring together and all-female cast and crew was very intentional. We ended up with 40 extras and a crew of 10 so in all, 50 women on set working together. That is very rare, and there was a lovely sense of togetherness that night.”
