10 & 13 year old duo, The Burney Sisters, to release new indie-folk-pop EP

The Burney Sisters, the indie-folk-pop duo comprised of siblings Emma and Olivia Burney, are poised to break out of their native Columbia, MO with their upcoming EP, Where We Stand, to be released September 28th via Gaslight Records.

At the young ages of 10 and 13, The Burney Sisters have progressed from covering songs by their favorite artists such as The Avett Brothers, Cowboy Junkies and First Aid Kit, to writing and performing their own material. Primarily playing ukulele, elder sister Olivia wrote the bulk of the material on 2017’s debut EP, Running Away, and multi-instrumentalist Emma has recently begun contributing to the composition and arrangement of The Burney Sisters’ songs as she expands her instrumental arsenal to include guitar, bass, banjo, keys and fiddle.

LA-based psychedelic/pop artist Luke Top (of Fool’s Gold) shares nostalgic “I May Never Leave”

Luke Top was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and raised in Los Angeles, CA. He has dedicated the last two decades to recording and performing music. A majority of that time (2008-2015), was spent as the lead singer of Fool’s Gold, a band that has enjoyed international acclaim for their cathartic live shows and seductive experiments in global psychedelia. When Fool’s Gold disbanded, Luke shifted gears musically, going solo with the release of his full length album ‘Suspect Highs’ in 2016. SPIN magazine called the album “a deeply earnest and deeply honest confessional.” The opportunity to play as a touring member of the band Electric Guest presented itself in 2017, so Luke joined up in support their second album, “Plural.” It was during this period that Luke partnered with longtime friend, Jason Quever of Papercuts, to open a recording studio in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. In this space, Luke found the freedom to explore a variety of bold new musical tangents, further refining his unique brand of songwriting and producing.

Childhood friends, Ruby Haunt (fka Haunt) is an American musical project conceived by Wyatt Ininns and Victor Pakpour in 2015. The duo wrote their first three EPs while in school via opposite ends of the west coast (Los Angeles and Portland), exchanging musical ideas over email. In this time, they received support from Nowness, Track + Field Records, C-Heads Magazine, and various tastemaking YouTube channels for their unique songwriting and self-produced music videos.

“Always About the Ones Who Have it All” is a song inspired by the greed infecting society. Red Moses and Sami Knowles, the forces behind Callow, wrote it from a very personal and literal place of insight. Throughout the otherworldly sounds and ethereal layering, they sing about escaping the rat race of life saying, “Wanna go away, take our songs to the cold lands, sing to the wolves, sing for the sound, forget about what’s going on…”. The song moves like a gathering storm, with a brief pause of relief before thundering back to life. Moses explains, “That moment is really important, because it’s almost like we’re inviting people to numb themselves to the craziness, and then we viscerally tell them – no don’t you fucking dare numb yourself.”

London outfit The Swagger presents their bold new single ‘Heart ‘N’ Soul’, which is set for release on August 31. Ahead of this, the band are previewing their new video, which features a surprising story line and unexpected ending, cloaked in dark humour.

‘Heart ‘N’ Soul’ was produced by Mike Bennett (Ian Brown, The Specials, Doctor & The Medics) with Angus Wallace (Wishbone Ash, Spiritualized, The Fall) as sound engineer. It was recorded at Far Heath Studios in Northamptonshire, famed for recordings by The Specials, The Fall and The Prodigy, among others.
