The Milkmen share new single ‘Pirate Boy’

Opening with its spine-tingling first single Pirate Boy, The Milkmen’s sophomore album, Behind Closed Eyelids, is an intense and rewarding listen. Driven by the gritty vocal style of Conor Mcloughlin, the band taps a vein of dirty acoustic rock, striking gold with masterfully layered songs that delve deep into the heavier realities of life.

Raw and honest, the lyrics at the heart of Behind Closed Eyelids match the intensity with which they are sung. Each instrument in the arrangement plays its part to perfection – adding the necessary shading that makes up the album’s tone. Together, both band and singer bring the powerful narratives of Behind Closed Eyelids to life – delivering wave after wave of uplifting music, even during the album’s bleakest moments. To properly capture this energy on tape, the band enlisted legendary Perth producer Rob Grant to sonically sculpt Behind Closed Eyelids.

Emily Burns Drops New Track ‘Girlfriend At The Time’

22-year old British pop singer Emily Burns is back with another straight-talking single, following the release of ‘Bitch’ earlier this year. With new track ‘Girlfriend At The Time’, Emily bares yet more of her soul; it’s an insightful and honest lyrical offering, laden with catchy hooks and sweet melodies. In Emily’s words:

“I wrote this song when I was in the super early stages of a new relationship… that point where you can’t get enough of that one person. I think people get scared when things are going well, I know because I’m the worst for it! So with this song, I was trying to say, don’t freak out, just take it as it comes and be in the moment.”

New video by British artist Gecko

British singer-storyteller Gecko has made a new videoclip for his new single ‘Rapunzel’, a feminist take on the ancient fairytale of Rapunzel. Gecko has toured extensively all throughout Europe and England including festivals such as Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Pinkpop, sold out shows in London and more.

As Gecko said himself: “After one day contemplating the fairytale Rapunzel I felt like writing my own version. In my firmly feminist re-telling Rapunzel schools the prince on why you can’t just expect to marry someone if you help them out. She also explains that she wants true freedom not to be kept ‘safe’ in his castle. This is one of my favourite songs to play live, I’ve had the pleasure to play it all over Europe but my highlight has to be playing it to primary school kids!”

Jonah release sun-drenched video for “Love Lost”

With the second release taken from their debut album “Wicked Fever”, Jonah dare to step back into the past with “Love Lost”. Memories of love and the limitless freedom of youth during sun-drenched midsummer nights, “I feel my days could stretch forever, We could hold on to one another.” Seemingly small gestures gain in significance over time as tonal textures swell and vocals insistently assure us, “I keep waiting, Just in case…”

Angelo and Christian stay true to the hymnal quality of their work, making “Love Lost” a light-footed pop song with coltish guitars, ambient electronic elements, and huge melodies—somewhere between indie aesthetics and marching folk drums.
