Nele (pronounced “Nail-a”) writes songs about the tragedies of everyday life – capsules of time where it feels like the world is collapsing around you but are forgotten soon after – love songs which feature arguments, fears, doubts, loss and strange encounters and show how people really react in relationships, rather than the pages in a comic book. We’ll See is accompanied by an inspired video which revels in the paradoxes and dark humour of Nele’s music.

Sweden’s Elias offers up yielding slowburner “Focus”

Following on from 2017’s epic releases “Thinking Of You” and “Hope”, the young Swedish talent Elias follows up with “Focus”. Late TV turn the cyclical ironies of human endeavour into the transcendent funk

After the triumph of last year’s ‘Citizen’ single, Late TV have crafted a thematic companion of sorts in ‘Losin’ It’. The rhythm section’s grooves will seize your jiving body back into their neon dreamworld, a lurid post-pop-culture dystopia where the fundamental human quest for the ineffable is realised in surrealistic paranoiac lyricism and jazz parlour instrumentation. Sonically, ‘Losin’ It’ can best be described, in the words of the late Bowie, as ‘plastic soul’ – the Thin White Duke’s epithet for the kind of jazzy avant-garde funk & roll of Young Americans. As Late TV’s recent output suggests, there’s still a space for organic ensemble songwriting in a growingly disposable sonic landscape. Maybe that’s their grand irony. Named after the most disposable form of entertainment for the pre-internet generation, they’re here to remind us that everything has the potential to live on indefinitely, whether that’s trash TV, or a song you can really lose it to.

COLD WAR KIDS PREMIERE THE VIDEO FOR “FREE TO BREATHE” TODAY ON VEVO

She chose her friend and model Brook Power to act in the video whom she had just watched go from giving birth to being Playmate of the Year a few months later. What makes the video compelling to me is how intimately Marika shows the beauty and the isolation; the inner struggle of hustling while holding on to yourself. That raw vulnerability captures the emotion of the song perfectly.”

Tenderfoot share intimate video for the title track to their debut album, ‘Break Apart’

Addressing the heavy themes of the video (which also inform the album’s songwriting), frontman Adam Kendall Woods explains “In psychological projection, a person denies their existence and experience and shifts blame onto others. Using vintage slides of a family’s memories, a scenario is presented where the character cannot escape the emotional weight and trauma handed down generationally. The colored light and memory become heavy and cause him pain and discomfort. The slides flash more rapidly during the crescendo and the character enters the space of his own mind. In the end, a bright white light expels the memories and the character can begin to move forward as a sovereign self.”
