Vampire Diaries Actor Michael Malarkey releases ‘Uncomfortably Numb’

What comes first? The actor or the songwriter? For Michael Malarkey, the writer came first, then the self-taught musician, rapidly followed by the self-made actor. Michael’s journey as a musician started when he began placing guitar parts behind his passion of writing copious amounts of poetry. ‘I was enraptured by the poets and writers of the beat generation and how they used the sound and rhythm of words to create a certain energy of time and place.’ Embracing the use of words to build tempo, Malarkey’s debut album Mongrels is the scribbling’s of a restless creative, battling to contain his nomadic spirit within his compositions.

The fin. Wrap up the summer in the beatific strains of ‘Heat’

“This song is about energy which is around every where or inside you and states that it conflicts each other in many ways. There’s another version in Through the Deep EP. It’s more like a short dream and thoughts that goes away soon. But this new version is repetitive and it has a big world and reality in it.”

decker. Resists Trump in New Video for “Matchstick Man”

decker. has released a video for “Matchstick Man”—an openly defiant protest anthem written in resistance of Donald Trump’s presidency. The song opens his latest LP, Into the Red, out now on Royal Potato Family. While both the song and video were written and filmed prior to the events in Charlottesville, Virginia and the more recent announcement by the Trump administration to phase out the “Dreamers” act, its message with stinging lyrics like, “tell you something that you may not all want to hear, the revolution you’ve waited on is already here,” has only grown more potent in light of these recent developments.

“I am deeply opposed to the sentiments of intolerance, racism, sexism and xenophobia that Donald Trump and so many of his supporters are propagating. I think all compassionate, mindful humans feel as such. Yet, here we are,” says decker. “‘Matchstick Man’ as a song leaves some room for interpretation to the listener, but the video was intended to be a vivid picture of resistance to Trump and his ideologies and a celebration of diversity.”

Chams – ‘Finale’

“‘Lettre d’Amort’ is an EP by French producer Chams. It is a deeply personal collection of songs that were born out of transcendental experience he had during his teenage years. Growing up surrounded by the Alps and raised by an alpinist father, he always felt like those high mountains looming over him were “sacred places where the beauty and fear of nature merge to shape a unique atmosphere of vulnerable plenitude.”

Ulster Page – ‘In The Explosion’

Written after a fight in which two band members were involved, « In The Explosion » is the opening track of « Memory », ULSTER PAGE’s first effort. Directed from A to Z by the musicians themselves, this video translates into image the tension one can feel during a conflict, the importance of keeping calm, and the loss of control which may sometimes ensue.

The drummer’s energy symbolizes a rage that’s impossible to channel, versus the other members willingly trying to keep control while staring at the camera. The closed room, which gives the impression of the band locked up in a box, represents the impossibilty to exit and the obligation to face the conflict. Then, the final explosion, the « let it go », the violence, graphically expressed by visual effects, lights and a common energy of all members.

Luna Shadows Shares New Single “Tokyo”

LA’s reigning queen of mysterious pop, Luna Shadows, has unveiled her latest offering of 2017, the etherial and evocative “Tokyo”. Teaming up once again with Thom Powers of The Naked And Famous, the track shows a return to the engrossing leftfield pop that she’s become renown for.

“Tokyo” was written from a place of internal exploration, the singer explains; “When we hope for things, we imagine the happiness we might feel if we receive them. In reality, however, even the most blissful changes are often accompanied by a degree of melancholy. In art, especially music, we regularly see a definitive before and after – a seed & a flower, a caterpillar & a butterfly – but rarely is the actual moment of change depicted. “Tokyo” is intended to be like a musical time lapse or the sonic equivalent of a developing photo, detailing a precise moment where something unfolded in front of me.”

Battleme will also spend the fall on a UK/EU headlining tour to coincide with the release of Cult Psychotica.

USNEA: Noisey Streams Portals Into Futility In Its Entirety

“Musically speaking, Portals Into Futility builds upon the progress they made with its predecessor, Random Cosmic Violence. ‘Funeral doom’ has always been an ill-fitting mantle for the four… because, while their tuning is low and tempo is slow, they’ve never shied away from progression. Rather than floating motionless in amber, USNEA reaches out and absorbs outside energies, which then combust into psychedelic spirals, tormented shrieks, shining acoustic passages, hollow-voiced choruses, and flashy drumming.” — Noisey

AQUILO SHARE NEW SINGLE “I COULD FIGHT ON A WALL”

The first new song to be heard since debut album Silhouettes was released in January of this year, “I Could Fight On A Wall” is the culmination of the band’s experiences of life on the road over past months and a taste of what’s to come as they further explore the dreamy electronic pop they’ve become known and loved for.

JACK JOHNSON’S ALBUM ‘ALL THE LIGHT ABOVE IT TOO,’ AVAILABLE TODAY

The new album is Johnson’s first since 2013. “This album shares what has been on my mind during the past year or so,” says Johnson. “A year in which I sailed through the North Atlantic Gyre for a documentary about plastic pollution in the ocean. A year in which Trump was elected as the President of the United States. A year in which I camped, surfed, got stitches, explored, dreamed, shared time and endless conversations with my family and friends…all of which inspired these songs. I usually make sketches of the songs first then set up a time to actually record the album. This time around the original sketches became the final versions. I didn’t want to lose any of the spirit that a song has in its rawest form.” To finish out the record Johnson called upon producer Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Bahamas), along with his longtime band mates to play on a few of the tracks.

Video: Lil Durk ft. Future & Jeezy – “Goofy”

A blunt lyricist and master melodist beloved on the streets of Chicago, Lil Durk commands respect from all corners of the Hip-Hop universe. In his new video for “Goofy,” directed by Nasser Boulaich, the young artist recruits Future and Jeezy, two of the brightest stars from Atlanta, Durk’s city of residence. Produced by Southside, “Goofy” is a titanic and menacing trap banger, with an infectiously rhythmic chorus from Future and ultra-confident verses from Jeezy and Durk. In the video, the three rappers gather in a dimly-lit old-fashioned mansion, with antique furniture and chandeliers, dressed to the nines in street formal attire, spitting fire towards snitches and lames. Premiered by Billboard, “Goofy” is Durk’s second video since the release Supa Vultures EP, his collaborative project with fellow drill rap pioneer Lil Reese.
