Leland Transitions from Hit Songwriter to Pop Star
“Leland, the Los Angeles songwriter behind some of today’s most exciting music, has released his breakout single, “Mattress”— an anthem about unrequited queer love set against soaring electro-pop production,” Out’s Justin Moran wrote on Friday. “The song’s rooted in Leland’s own experiences with romance as a gay man, but the sentiment is universal— a nuanced balance that’s made Leland a reliable hitmaker for artists like Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, Allie X, and Daya. He’s been a pillar for Sivan’s music from the start, collaborating with the YouTube sensation on Blue Neighbourhood highlights “Youth” and “Talk Me Down,” as well as his Martin Garrix scorcher, “There For You”… But his latest co-write, the career-defining “Fetish” for Selena Gomez, signals a much-deserved shift in Leland’s deep discography— one aimed directly at mainstream success.”
Waxahatchee shares “Recite Remorse” music video
Director Ricardo Rivera elaborates on the making of the video: I am a video installation artist first and foremost, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to create an interpretive installation. I created an immersive space with layered translucent fabric and video projections and filmed Katie Crutchfield reacting to those elements. Optical layering of imagery onto the fabric and onto Katie created a video effect similar to many music videos of the ’90s, but done in practical way. Dreamy vibes for a dreamy song.

MOTÖRHEAD to Release “Under Cöver” Album on September 1, 2017
One thing Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee liked to do throughout their years together in MOTÖRHEAD was grab a favorite song by another artist and give it a good old fashioned ‘Motörheading’. In celebration of some of those finest moments, the band will release Under Cöver, a collection of some of their best covers, and a collection which will include the previously unreleased version of David Bowie’s timeless classic “Heroes”. Recorded during the Bad Magic sessions in 2015 by Cameron Webb, and was one of the last songs the band recorded together.

Alongside this announcement Sundfør has shared a second track from the album, the slow-burning, evocative “Mountaineers” which features none other than John Grant.
Of the track Sundfør explains: “‘Mountaineers’ is a song I wrote after spending a week at a retreat with The Dark Mountain Project and Way of Nature, and is inspired by a poem by the American poet Robinson Jeffers, called “Rearmament.” It’s about the importance of seeing the beauty in things in order to find purpose and strength in life.”
John Grant adds: “She blows my mind with her incredible voice.”
Sundfør’s most poignant and personal album to date, Music For People In Trouble marks her out as one of the most compelling artists in the world. Death Metal Group ABHORRENT DECIMATION Streaming Entire New Album
Conceptually, the album is an in-depth exploration into “The Pardoner”, English poet Geoffrey Chaucer’s most depraved and deceitful character from The Canterbury Tales. “The Pardoner” is a religious fraud and hypocrite who preaches against the love of greed, yet whose own love of wealth enabled him to profit off the sins of others. He claimed to work on behalf of the clergy, selling spiritual forgiveness for one’s sins in the form of his pardons, which included forged “official letters” from high ranking church officials absolving one of their sins and bones and crystals blessed with healing powers. In Chaucer’s story, “The Pardoner” tells a harrowing tale of three men whose materialism becomes the death of them.

Beyond anything else, I wanted to prove that we are all losers, but it’s OK. Fuck everything, just keep going.”
The Cribs Announce Surprise New Album ’24-7 Rock Star Shit’
Recorded with Steve Albini in his Chicago Electrical Audio studio, 24-7 Rock Star Shit is the quickest thing The Cribs have ever recorded — done and dusted in five days — yet has also been six years in the making. The album’s origins lie back in 2011, when the three Jarman brothers were making In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull. After recording the bulk of the album with producer Dave Fridmann in upstate New York, they flew straight to Electrical Audio and laid down four tracks for possible inclusion on …Brazen Bull. But the songs had such a spirit and sound of their own that they were laid aside for a rainy day. When it came time for the next album, there was a plan to make two LPs to represent two distinct strands of their work: a pop record and a punk record, one polished and melodic, the other raw and underworked. Yet the former took precedence, and became 2015’s For All My Sisters. The punk album – hinted at in the press – instead became a thing of fan myth.
