Jamie Aaron Aux (Le Butcherettes) announces her new LP
Seattle-scene staple Jamie Aaron Aux has announced her newest album, Close The Circle. What started as a follow-up to her more pop-rock inclined 2014 release, Velo Scene, quickly became something altogether new, with less indie buoyancy, delving into sonically heavier depths. Recorded and produced by Aux herself in her home studio, and mixed in El Paso by Chris Common (Le Bucherettes, These Arms Are Snakes), with guest vocalists Jenn Champion and Maiah Manser, and drum performances by Rick Weber and Common.
Employing a three-octave range and the ability to create electric guitar soundscapes and turn them into pointed social commentary, guitarist Anna Coogan recently released her operatic rock album, The Lonely Cry of Space & Time. Now, Anna is excited to share her newest video for “Burn For You”, which exclusively premiered with The Big Takeover.
GlerAkur is the moniker Icelandic composer and sound designer Elvar Geir Sævarsson has chosen to represent the unique cinematic music he creates apart from his engagement as a sound engineer at the National Theater of Iceland. Icelandic for “Glass Field”, GlerAkur draws inspiration from post rock, drone and ambient music, as well as black and doom metal, blending and bending sound into hypnotic waves of dreamlike atmosphere that Rolling Stone hailed as “brutally irresistible”, calling for comparison to “Metallica covering the live half of Pink Floyd’s 1969 album Ummagumma.” GlerAkur will release its debut full-length, The Mountains Are Beautiful Now, on July 21 via Prophecy Productions (Alcest, Völur).

Catherine McGrath releases new single & video ‘Never Wanna Fall In Love’
Following her hugely successful UK tour with The Shires and outstanding performances at this year’s Great Escape Festival, Catherine McGrath has released her new single ‘Never Wanna Fall in Love’. It is her seventh consecutive ‘New Music Friday’ playlisted single and the final track to be taken from her upcoming EP Starting From Now, which is out tomorrow via Warner Music.
Catherine has also released a special video to accompany the track which is a colourful, short-but-sweet clip tailored for the social media platform Twitter.
Wren have garnered healthy support from select press in their short time together, with their last EP “Host” commanding praise from the likes of CVLT Nation, The Obelisk, Terrorizer and, most notably, Daniel P. Carter with repeat plays on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show. Living Colour have announced the release of their latest studio album, ‘Shade,’ due September 8 on Megaforce Records. Produced by Andre Betts, it’s the legendary New York City rock band’s first new record in eight years. Living Colour gave fans a sneak peak of the recording in Fall 2016 when they released a reimagined take on The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya?” in protest of ongoing gun violence and racial profiling. Over time, she noticed a steady stream of tweets reaching her from Latin America, and the unlikely statistic that geographically her music was most popular on Spotify in Mexico City. It gave birth to the seed of an idea that became a real labor of love over the next six months. Lucy offered her fans in Latin America a deal: “If you book me a gig, I’ll come and stay.” The trip created the inspiration for Something’s Changing and a short film documentary.

josh pan & X&G share stunning new video “nowhere”
OWSLA producer/singer josh pan and collaborators X&G have released the jarring video for their anthem “nowhere.” Directed by Liam Underwood, the video is a commentary on the chaotic, rapidly-evolving state of politics, media, war, free speech and its oppression. In josh’s own words:
“at times like this, we need to stick together and realize that we’re all from the same place and that we all want to feel safe and loved. i’ve always known that music has to ability to speak a language much deeper than we know and to bring people together. this is the vision we had for ‘nowhere.'”
REIGHNBEAU’s “I Want Love”
Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, REIGHNBEAU is the work of visual and sound artist Bryce Hample. Frequent collaborators include Colleen Johnson (Twig Palace) and Madeline Johnston (Sister Grotto). The act concocts hypnotic tracks that incorporate heavenly, oft-wordless vocal melodies with swelling layers of melodic beauty for a very gripping effect. Middle Boop Mag described the sound as one that “shift and sift like sand between fingers – sinking through with an odd satisfaction and surreal beauty as you interact with thousands of grains of ancient earth and animals, ground into silt after billions of years.”

Minneapolis, MN-based progressive/technical death metal group REAPING ASMODEIA will kick off their upcoming North American tour with headliners Inanimate Existence on June 16 in Sacramento, CA. Kacy & Clayton are set to return with The Siren’s Song via New West Records on August 18th, 2017. The 9-song set was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and recorded by Tom Schick at Wilco’s The Loft in Chicago, IL. The Siren’s Song, is the follow up to their acclaimed 2015 New West Records debut Strange Country, and for the first time incorporates full, electric band arrangements. Their sound is an arresting amalgamation of psychedelic folk, English folk revival and the ancestral music of Southern Appalachia. Now rounded out by Mike Silverman on drums and percussion & Shuyler Jansen on bass, The Siren’s Song encompasses their 60’s and 70’s Folk and Traditional Country influences, but also introduces a new emphasis on groove. Rolling Stone Country is premiering the video for the album’s first single “The Light of Day,” which was directed by Nakasone Folk and can be seen HERE.
Tycho release first-ever track with a vocalist
Tycho has announced the release of “See (Feat. Beacon),” the first ever song featuring vocals from the GRAMMY® Award-nominated dance/electronic project. The track is available at all digital music retailers and streaming services today.
Tomorrow, Bay Area death cult NECROT – founded by current and former members of Acephalix, Vastum, Saviours, Watch Them Die, Atrament, Rude, and more – will drop their anticipated second LP, Blood Offerings, via Tankcrimes.
The single is the title track from the band’s forthcoming album, out September 1st via Tender Loving Empire. “It’s kind of a breakup song but it was written in a fun time,” the band explains, “There was a foreboding maybe. Like the future won’t allow this but it has its good times.”
Black Fly is an artist who records gothic synth music from his bedroom in the backwoods of Vermont, surrounded by a vast area of woodland scattered across mountains covered in snow.
“Dipped” is the third single which follows “Sign 2” and debut “I Don’t Know”.

Directed by Alfredo Lopez, Triptides new video for “Invitation” finds the Los Angeles quartet playing their debut single while tromping around the forest, instruments in hand, and amid psychedelic swirls of color. With their ’70s aesthetic strong, Triptides create spaced out psychedelic indie pop that is as refreshing as their look is nostalgic.
The song premiered on Impose Magazine who said the song, “showcases Klics’ talents in crafting layered, vivid, amber-hued landscapes that continuously evolve and swell throughout.”
The artist added plainly, “this song’s about messing something up, and violin solos.”
