Country music has taken a liking to Russ Still and The Moonshiners. They bring out the light and authenticity to the radio and music scene with their classy country rock music. Where as they say “In an industry that currently thrives on auto-tune, drum machines, and pop templates”, which is sad yet indeed true. Russ Still and The Moonshiners take its extensive line up of front man Russ Still (vocals, guitar), Ben Still (guitar, vocals), Kevin Pinson (drums), Cam Still (keys), Chris Hinson (guitar) and Jimmy Friedel (bass, vocals), to a whole another level when it comes to latest song turned single “Promised Land” off the album “Still Cookin”.
“Promised Land”, is like any other country rock track with its variation of artist or band to back it up. When it comes to the way Russ Still and The Moonshiners take it though, “Promised Land”, becomes one of those 5 minutes songs you can tap your feet too without feeling ashamed or embarrassed due to its genre choice. While many enjoy country music and others may be afraid to admit it, “Promised Land”, is one to bring you out of the darkness and into the light.

Russ Still and The Moonshiners as a whole act, is quite creative, interesting, and impressive. Their way with music making is impressive to say the least, because they can take the music and have it float right along to the lyrical context in question. While the vocal works are placed right atop, able to stick themselves in their proper place where they should stand, having it all come together.
As the band puts it, they do country rock music that is blended with compelling lyrics, interesting melodies, and fresh arrangements, which couldn’t be agreed more so than needed. That is what you get when listening to Russ Still and The Moonshiners with this track alone that is “Promised Land”. The music is melodic with constant melody running through it, while the lyrics are very compelling, that you can relate yet feel emotional after hearing the words being said with music to back it up. While everything else as noted beforehand just comes into place with an arrangement of sorts that just works for the song and band.
In regards to the album itself “Still Cookin” where “Promised Land” comes from the album itself is just like the song and everything else describing it. The album just like the song is very melody driven, with tons of energy, power, pride, and emotion. A lot of the other tracks are lot like “Promised Land”, having had this song kick things off for that release, just makes this song that more eye catching to the ear.
While Russ Still and The Moonshiners is one of those acts you could keep up with it, and enjoy no matter the time of day, they can bring out the joy and brightness to all who hear their upbeat and catchy tunes, because it is what makes yet drives them as musicians. They may sound like a lot of the other country rock music acts around but they stand out from those because they got a style they go with it and stick with it at all costs.
This is their “Promised Land”, and it is here to stay and claim those who want to hear it, because it is for all to hear and take joy from it. Nothing more to be said than that, because it sums it up just right. If not then maybe you just need some more joyfulness to enter your life.
