Sims Shares “Brutal Dance” On All Things Go

Today All Things Go premiered “Brutal Dance”, the third single off of Sims upcoming album ‘More Than Ever’ which will be out 11/4 via Doomtree Records. When speaking about the song SIMS said, “I love this beat. I think ICETEP captured some amazing feeling in this one, big rises and falls, sweeping synths, I don’t know, there is just something unique and special about that beat to me. This was the first beat I got for this album, and it was the last song I finished; I wound up turning it in the day before we went to mastering. The song is about immediacy, and that sense of desperation in immediacy. I wrote this in memoriam of some lost friends. Something woke in me when they died. Something fierce and urgent. And I wanted to share that sense of urgency on this song, to share that expression of being relentlessly present and driven to do whatever it is that you want to do.”

Today, we are excited to share the first single, “The Last Ten Years.” Eitzel writes: “This song was originally written for American Music Club and was called ‘The Last 5 Years.’ This was inspired by an especially toxic year spent in New York’s Lower East Side. I added five years to make it ten, though 20 years had passed. It would have been a different song if the chorus was ‘I spent the last 20 years trying to waste half an hour.’ I mean, that’s a lot even for me.”

Noirish East London art-rockers Sonïtus announce debut EP, ‘Kleptocracy’

As harmonic waves of arpeggiated guitar and bass flow across a resolute kick drum and trilling hi-hat, the sensuous opening to Sonïtus’ ‘Alleviate’ is teasingly gentle yet taut with an air of alienation. Singer Russ’s subtle, soul-tinged dismissal of societal norms only increases the tension, before the pressure bursts in a ferocious surge of molten metallic rage, a showstopping alt-rock gut punch to exorcise the frustrations of being restrained by conformity. Rejection of such mores is a theme central to the very existence of rock’n’roll, of course, but rarely have the constraints been kicked aside in such a brutal, uproarious and thrilling fashion. But this is Sonïtus. And this is their time.

I wanted the beat (from producer Brenton Duval and Maki) for months — and when I finally got the green light, it was mine and I wrote to it immediately. It was initially intended for my upcoming Perfectly, Tragically, Flawed project — but after sitting down with all the records we decided it made more sense on You Knew All Along.
