Ripp Flamez – “Forever”

Armed with his trademark melodicism, his squad, and a bottle of Henny, Ripp Flamez takes to the late-night Cleveland streets in his video for “Forever,” the opening track on his new album DayOne Forever. Considered the deepest and most personal song on his project, Ripp opens up about his father passing while in jail and his brother getting free. “I miss my homies, I miss my pops,” explains Ripp. “While I’m not on a mainstream level yet, in my life, my world, my city, I’m considered successful. I’ve waited all my life for this and the people I want to share it with aren’t here to share it. Normally, the intro track is overlooked but this song is especially important to me so I wanted to make a dope visual for it.”

“Nice Mask over an Ugly Face,” due for release August 5th on Pretty Purgatory

Wei Zhongle was born in a midwestern oasis, out of a love of traditional Chinese court music and general esotericism. Now they make pop music. Led by guitarist & vocal gymnast Rob Jacobs, Wei Zhongle has had four differing line-ups over five albums released with avant-taste-makers like NNA Tapes, Hairy Spider Legs, and New Atlantis. Through relentless touring and an arcane intuitiveness, their sounds have evolved from the angular meditations of their self-titled debut to the murky architecture of Raised High/Brought Low to the hypnotic ecstasy of Nu Trance. Along the way, they’ve picked up glowing endorsements from The Wire, Consequence of Sound, Impose, The Quietus, Tiny Mix Tapes, and others.

Lead single “Every Little Thing” is a funky pop number featuring driving horns and the sweet but powerful vocals of lead singer Deb Love. Belfast’s Beauty Sleep – New Single

Like the changing of the days in Belfast, Beauty Sleep’s new single is very much in a different season to the bands debut back in winter, suitably named ‘The Dark’. As the days are significantly longer right now, new single and sophomore effort ‘Living Right’ drives away from the melancholy tones and melodies of the bands debut effort whilst keeping the dreamy, chorus infused guitars and hazy vocals that are becoming a trademark for this Northern Irish export.

Oh, Be Clever – “Love You Now”

While all times are good times to chill, August in the northern hemisphere of planet earth is by far the best time sit back, relax and sip a tasty adult beverage by the nearest natural or human made body of water, regardless of local rules and regulations. Jeff and Philo certainly understand this. The two electronic artists brought some real laid back grooves to the excellent Oh, Be Clever track, “Love You Now” in their uber blissed out remix. I can practically taste the mojito while enjoying this jam. It has been noted that the track sounds like it was “scientifically designed to force you to chill.” We most assuredly and enthusiastically agree.

Jacob Moore ‘From Above’

Like a pleasant gust of wind on a hot day, Jacob Moore is drifting into the limelight with ‘From Above’, a pretty taste of his forthcoming EP All In Time.

Taking time to finely hone his craft; Jacob has merely tested the waters when it comes to his musical endeavours. Fusing 50s barbershop nostalgia and modern soul is not an easy feat, but this is the sonic identity that best describes Jacobs’ previous soft releases ‘Infinity’ and ‘Something in the Water’. Recently Jacob has been hard at work, recruiting a slew of musicians to form his live band, which will be revealed in the coming months, as well as putting the finishing touches on his debut EP at Studios 301 with Jack Prest (Flume, The Preatures, Action Bronson).

Skux Shares New Two-Track Release ‘The Two Sides of She’

Skux is a new project led by Ayisha Jaffer and written in collaboration with The Death Set’s Dan Walker. “Skux” is also a New Zealand slang term for “gangster.”

Made up of “On Her Way” — a song about the traveling woman who works hard, plays hard, and never settles — and “More Than 10 Things” — which puts a twist on the poem featured in ’90s cult-favorite 10 Things I Hate About You — The Two Sides of She represents two different, but very real, sides of one personality.

We start talking about music and he told me how he wasn’t really making beats anymore and that he was rapping more. I convinced him to go to car and get his equipment. He made the ‘Super Powers’ track that day from scratch then I just laid the track later on that night.”

A-TRAK & TOMMY TRASH RELEASE “LOSE MY MIND” ON FOOL’S GOLD

A-Trak has teamed back up with Tommy Trash for “Lose My Mind,” a feel-good, satin jacket jam for our crazy times. These DJ heroes have slowed down the tempo and turned up the bump, ticking all boxes for “groove” in the process: distorted bass riffs, vintage vocals, and a Travolta-worthy disco strut. They even got French legend Alex Gopher to mix it down for that extra magic.

New STACEY Single

She told GoldFlakePaint why she decided to cover the track: I love a lot of music from the 60s and Build Me Up (Buttercup) is an obvious classic from that era. The transformation that the song took really caught me off guard. It’s now clear to me that the original lyrics & chord structure exist as such a stark dichotomy. The happy, fun chords expertly mask the sombre message; it’s the song everyone gets up to dance & sing along to in celebration, even (ironically) at weddings. I had never considered it from this perspective before.

Kathryn Dean Premieres New Music Video “City of Angels”

Rising indie pop sensation Kathryn Dean has teamed up with PopDust to premiere the stunning new music video for her single, “City of Angels.” Recently spending three weeks as the #1 indie record in the US on the Independent AC Chart, “City of Angels” is a first look into Kathryn’s forthcoming full length album produced by Chris Seefried (Andra Day, Lana Del Rey, Fitz and the Tantrums, etc) and set to drop this fall. Black Dada “F’ EM”

You probably remember Black Dada from his smash hit “Imma Zoe” and the remix featuring Brian “Baby” Williams and Rick Ross. In this time he penned songs for the likes of Gloria Estefan collaborated with Dr. Dre, Scott Storch and many other domestic and international artists.

Los Angeles producer Adult Karate shares light hearted “So Low”

Adult Karate is KC Maloney, half of the gauze-and-gossamer duo Radar Cult. Though Radar Cult’s sound is fairly spartan, Adult Karate takes the use of empty space even further, hollowing out the skeleton of electronic music- house, techno, ambient—until only the memory is left. These songs are imprints on an empty bed, images on a burial shroud; a wisp of something gone, its impression indelible. Recently signed to Los Angeles-based label Plug Research (Flying Lotus, Bilal, Dntel), he comes to the label building in intensity his cryptic ruminations, diffused into a sea-spray of synth decay, sparse percussion, pitched-down vocals, and Spaghetti western guitar. His debut EP, ‘LXII’ is set for an August 19th release date on Plug Research, and today he shared his hilariously, light hearted video for “So Low” via The WILD Magazine. The video is an oddball tale of trying to find connection between two strangers who have very damaged views on love, sex, and relationships.

“WE BELONG TOGETHER” SONG PREMIERE VIA CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

MYZICA – the Nashville, TN-based duo of producer Micah Tawlks and singer Isaaca Byrd – today premiered their new song “We Belong Together” via Consequence Of Sound, which wrote the track features “…a rainbow of synths that glow brightly and reassure; there’s also a hefty helping of funky guitar and bass, which helps to place “We Belong Together” in Carly Rae Jepsen and Dev Hynes’ squad of synthpop (with a hint of Madonna)”.
