Sydney’s beloved Bag Raiders, known for their infectious brand of radiant electropop which combines real instrumentation with dance-floor ready electronic production, are back with another EP to kick off 2016. Checkmate, which comes after the release of last December’s Friend Inside, delivers three new slices of the feel-good indie electronica for which they have come to be known. The title track features angelic vocals from Benjamin Joseph, lead vocalist of fellow Aussie group SAFIA.
This EP marks their third in two years, and comes in advance of a second full-length album, expected later this year. The duo are currently on a North American tour with Plastic Plates.
