Rising Atlanta MC Rome Fortune announces he will drop his debut Fool’s Gold LP Jerome Raheem Fortune on February 26th. Following a series of acclaimed mixtapes and collaborations with everyone from OG Maco and ILoveMakonnen to Four Tet and Toro Y Moi, Jerome Raheem Fortune is Rome’s most honest and powerful project to date.
Over loose, dreamlike tracks from longtime collaborator Cubby, Rome gets extra real about his struggles: his parents, his children, and their mothers… his dreams, his demons, and the drugs that may be fueling both. Slow and funky new track “Love” is a deep dive into all the feels Jerome Raheem Fortune has in store, a powerful ode to Rome’s kids who keep him going even at his lowest. It follows the Kaytranada produced single “Dance” (premiered globally by Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show), an uptempo song about escape rather than elation. Yet nothing on Jerome Raheem Fortune is a drag; over the course of 11 potent tracks, Rome Fortune presents hip hop catharsis at its most compelling.
