MERIVAL “KICKING YOU OUT”
Merival’s thoughts on ‘Kicking You Out’: “All of the songs on Lovers were written before I was 20. I wrote ‘Kicking You Out’, the second single, when I was 17 – it’s the oldest song on the EP – about someone I’d been in love with for 2 years already. I’d never lived with him so I took some artistic liberties there; the idea of kicking him out was more of a premonition I had, that I would carry him with me for years and years after the fact and would need to be continually kicking him out of my mind. So far it’s held true.”

ANNA ROSE “START A WAR”
At first glance, one wouldn’t guess that Anna Rose, the adorably petite blonde with the sugary name, is a fearless, unabashed, mind-blowingly talented Rock and Roll powerhouse. But, Rose, in fact, is walking, singing proof that big things most definitely come in small packages. It’s no wonder that Pancakes and Whiskey declares her a “complete badass.”
ASHES TO ASHES “POPULAR”
On February the 10th, 2016, Epictronic Japan will proudly begin marketing our new release “Urania” from italian alternative rock band Ashes To Ashes.
Slingshot Dakota is an indie rock band from Bethlehem, PA. Comprised of two people, this band has no shortage of volume, energy and catchy tunes. Carly Comando shreds an 88-key digital piano through multiple effects pedals and provides vocals for the band. Drummer Tom Patterson keeps the beat while energetically crushing his drums, a sight that is both entertaining and inspiring. While Comando and Patterson are influenced by their respective punk and hardcore basement scenes, their music can be described as poppy indie rock. Their live sound is loud, full and raw, but at the root of it all is an addictive rock song.

LUST FOR YOUTH “STARDOM”
“Movement and gesture is natural. The flâneur has an iPhone, and their heart is embroidered into a microfiber sleeve in gold.
Lust for Youth are a three-piece from Copenhagen made up of Hannes Norrvide, Malthe Fischer & Loke Rahbek. 2014’s acclaimed album, International, took the melancholic insomnia of their former releases out into the street and away from the domestic frustrations of a life in headphones. Suddenly, surrounded by bodies, and with a staccato heart, Balearic infatuations and capricious nights in crowded clubs set the mood for Norrvide’s pining sighs. International marked Lust For Youth’s new-found decadence with fully resolved charm and enhanced self-deprecation.

SARANTOS NEW VIDEO “PAIN OF THE PAST”
A car junk yard? Yes, this is the perfect setting for my new music video. As the past simultaneously defines and haunts us this seems like the ideal backdrop for a rock video, doesn’t it? This music video casts me as someone trying hard to escape my past but always pulled back into it. No matter how far I try to run away, ultimately there is no escape. Driving endlessly, there is always a return to the reality of an empty fragmented existence. A dead end of street is all that awaits outside the junk yard which foreshadows the past.
The past is a powerful vacuum and not easy to forget or escape. It’s always there and a daily reminder of our failures and imperfections. But that’s ok. They too are a part of us. They made us into what we are and we would not be here today without them. Accept the faults of your past and live the present.
BATTLEME ON PASTE
After Portland imports Battleme (Matt Drenik – lead singer/guitarist, Chad Savage – bass, JJ Eliot – guitar, Scott Noben – drums) toured relentlessly in 2014 for their sophomore album, Future Runs Magnetic, the self-described “slacker-rockers” quickly got back to work, with frontman Matt Drenik writing and eventually recording the band’s third album with his brother Jason (Hairy Patt Band) co-producing. Matt Drenik took solace in seclusion after months of massive, guitar-driven performances almost every night for spirited, hungry crowds. He decided to move in a different direction, spending more time recording piano ballads demos on his phone instead of his usual kinetic show-stoppers. Reconvening with the band, Drenik’s songs began to take life, ultimately producing a newly blended toned-down style.
