LA SERA “HIGH NOTES”

The title of La Sera’s fourth album says a lot by saying so precious little: Music For Listening to Music To. So, in other words, “music.” After the punky heft and wildness of 2014’s Hour of the Dawn, an LP that thrashed against expectation, Katy Goodman returns with a set of songs that double down on solid simplicity – the power of wry lyrics, glorious guitar, driving backbeat, and the occasional pump organ groove. And as the record cover gives away, Goodman isn’t alone. La Sera is a duo now – that’s guitarist/cowriter/new husband (!) Todd Wisenbaker standing up there. And Ryan Adams joins to produce the fruit of their union, La Sera’s first live-recorded analog album, featuring 10 tunes about good love, bad love, dead men, and confused kids.

JEFFREY FOUCAULT RELEASES “SLOW TALKER” VIDEO

Jeffrey Foucault recently released, Salt As Wolves with the The New York Times heralding it, “Immaculately tailored… Sometimes his songs run right up to the edge of the grandiose and hold still, and that’s when he’s best.” This morning, The Boot debuted the first video from the album with the premiere of “Slow Talker” saying, “The concept for the ‘Slow Talker’ video is simple, and its black-and-white imagery provides a poetic ambiance to the song. Throughout the clip, viewers will see a chair sitting alone in a field, expansive horizons and more. Every part of the music video is there for a reason — but don’t expect a clear-cut storyline.”

“LA LOOSE” VIDEO

Today, Waxahatchee shared a dreamy new video for “La Loose” from her 2015 Merge debut Ivy Tripp. Of the video, director Naomi Yang wrote: “‘La Loose’ is a song of love and longing, though dark at its edges with feelings of ambivalence. I wanted the video to be a visual equivalent to the song lyric, ‘a charming picture of hysteria in love’—a spinning emotional kaleidoscope of desire and rejection, adoration and anger, hope and despair. For this reason I set the video in mirror-twin locations: an abandoned, haunted amusement park and a thriving farm out of a beautiful dream.”
