JILL ANDREWS ALBUM STREAM

With her bell-clear voice, Andrews sings of love, loss, hope, and empowerment across The War Inside. These 12 tracks represent the best of the nearly 100 songs she wrote between 2012 and 2014, and display an artist settling comfortably into her own skin. The War Inside contains an alluring mix of soaring, spirited (“Get Up Get On,” “My Love Is For”) or easy, melancholic pop (“I’m Not OK,” “Rust Or Gold”), moody, ethereal pop/rock (“Cannibal,” “Stepping Out”), and more spare, seemingly effortless folk (the Seth Avett-duet “I’m So In Love With You,” “Back Home”). The album is unflinching in its vulnerability and raw honesty – shining a light on her own struggles and successes, undoubtedly influenced by her work learning how to be both a full-time musician and a single mother – and Andrews’ keen, clear-eyed reflections can’t help but resonate.

YASSOU DELIVER “GORGEOUS, CONSUMING” THIRD VIDEO “TO SINK”

“I was drawn back to the cliffs at dawn with two of the bravest girls I know, dancing exposed to the elements makes you feel both numb and utterly alive. Slow motion is an alternate reality in which I like to spend a lot of time. I am there when I sing, when I swim. I love to watch the grace of something flying too fast for the human eye to enjoy. Peter Mccollough and I were wanderers in this suspended reality searching for the perfect mood and the perfect light. He captured and edited the movement and feeling of the song perfectly. As if you are under the pressure of the sea on land, held under by a wave, being tossed and turned flipped and righted, fighting to an end with no definition.” – Lilie Bytheway Hoy – Yassou

BAEB RXXTH NEWC SINGLE

Sliding in, making hits, and breaking records are all qualities that baeb rxxth aims to have in common with its namesake. Trap-pop co-producers Devon Craig Johnson and Nasimiyu Murumba met in 2013 in New York at one of Devon’s long-held Chinatown dance parties, and the two instantly started nerding out about hip hop, songwriting, and production gear.

“I think of us as a production team. We’re side-by-side on drum machines, samplers, and synth bass keyboards, building these big fun, sound houses to shelter what had begun as just my weird little singer/songwriter piano demos,” notes Nasimiyu, whose solo project, Dirt, won acclaim from Vogue, NYLON, Afropunk, SPIN, Rookie, and Interview magazine in 2014.

STATEMENT REGARDING RUBY ROSE & THE UNTITLED MAGAZINE

The Untitled Magazine would like to clarify that the photo shoot with actress Ruby Rose, which took place on April 13, 2015 and the interview, which was completed on June 12, 2015 for an inside feature in the #GirlPower Issue of The Untitled Magazine, were with full consent of the actress and her PR team. The Instagram post was the first time we heard any concerns from her or her team regarding the photos that were taken.

The Untitled Magazine would never publish unauthorized photos of talent we are profiling in the magazine. The photo shoot was an original production for the magazine’s “Girl Power” themed print edition, which was photographed exclusively by female photographers and written exclusive by female journalists in an effort to promote gender equality and female empowerment.

We have multiple emails from her team re-iterating how happy they were with the photo shoot, and there were no concerns over the photos or the over the sheerness of the clothing raised with the magazine after the shoot took place. In an email from her PR team to The Untitled Magazine, it was stated, “Thank you again for this! She looked incredible and it was a really great team. I am thrilled and exited to see the final edit.”

Today, in advance of the band’s fall tour with Cleveland’s The Lighthouse and the Whaler, the album opener “I Don’t Mind” has premiered on Consequence of Sound, who say, “[The track] is where the agossamer meets the twangy. With rolling guitar lines and a floating synth, two bygone eras of different genres fuse to make one modern, gosh darn enchanting sound.”

HEIN COOPER NEW TRIPPY VIDEO ‘THE REAL’

“The Real was inspired by one of my favourite films The Matrix” says Cooper. “I loved the trilogy’s message and feel that it relates to our world now more than ever. The idea of whether we are living in reality or in a simulated world created to control us is essentially what drives the song. So in the bridge for instance, I wanted to make the listener feel like they had woken from the simulation and seen life as it actually is, and give the impact of hard truths by tripping and twisting the groove.”

SARAH KIRKLAND SNIDER REVEALS VIDEO FOR “THE RIVER”

New Amsterdam Records is excited to reveal the video for “The River” from composer Sarah Kirkland Snider’s Unremembered — an hour-long, thirteen-part song cycle for seven voices, chamber orchestra, and electronics, inspired by poems and illustrations by writer and visual artist Nathaniel Bellows. The video premiered via Interview Magazine, who called it “cinematic and atmospheric… The video, through its slow motion and solitary nature, captures this darkness [described by Bellows], alongside its hauntingly layered vocal components and orchestral balladic composition.” The video was directed by acclaimed music video filmmaker Dan Huiting and is dedicated to its cinematographer, Andre Durand, who died in a tragic accident earlier this week.

KOLIDESCOPES NEW SINGLE

PREMIERE: THE KNOCKS REMIX X AMBASSADORS “RENEGADES”

“Where the original features summery refrains and acoustic guitars, in the hands of NYC-based duo The Knocks, ‘Renegades’ gets funked up. It’s all about that bassline and the dark disco-tized synths. The club netherworld is a realm The Knocks know exceptionally well and they’ve bounced this tune from an island hammock straight onto the dance floor. Bravo.”

SACRED OATH “TAKEN”

The band members all live in Connecticut, a state where graveyards can be found on just about every street corner, so it’s no surprise that the new music video for “Taken” was shot on an abandoned island in Bridgeport with a cast of creatures from the “other side.” We’re talking Zombies here, nasty ones, and they apparently heed the whims of their siren mistress (played by tattoo model/Instagram starling Leah Jung). Jung lures the band to her isle of the damned where they are condemned to play their classic, hard-hitting metal style for her and her legions – eternally.

ORYZ & CRAKE ALBUM STREAM

“There’s a beast in me/and I know you know this,” Ryan sings on “Strange as You Are,” the opener of the band’s latest album, Marriage. But knowing and seeing are two different things entirely, and Oryx & Crake make hay of the tension that lies between the two, loading on Patterson Hood’s “duality of the Southern thing,” abandoned religion and nods to more than one of the great post-apocalyptic novels of our time for good measure. Ostensibly, Marriage is about commitment — in a broad sense, not just between romantic partners — but it’s even bigger than that. Marriage is also about ambivalence.

THE CLARKS’ “WONDERFUL WORLD” FEATURED IN THE SIMPSONS’ 27th SEASON PREMIERE

The Clarks’ version of the classic song “What a Wonderful World” (Produced by Sean McDonald) was featured, not once, but twice, in last night’s 27th season premiere of The Simpsons. First used in the latter part of the episode during Homer Simpson’s dream sequence in which daughter Maggie sings the song a la Louis Armstrong which morphs into The Clarks’ version upon Homer awakening, and then used again over the show’s ending credits. Clarks lead singer, Scott Blasey had this to say about this career highlight – “We’ve all been such huge fans of The Simpsons since we were young. It’s an honor to be a part of such an historic show. This caps off an amazing year for the band with the release of our covers album Rewind, and continued support for our album, released last year, Feathers & Bones. The band has been touring more and we feel we’re hitting a new creative stride. ”

PSALM ONE NEW SINGLE

The first lady of Rhymesayers Ent., Chicago emcee Psalm One has shared her third studio album, P.O.L.Y. (Psalm One Loves You), today via Complex. The album title alludes to the philosophy of polyamory, with Psalm One delivering playful, seductive wordplay complemented by developed production and live instrumentation. “I’m growing as a woman, as a person, and as an artist,” Psalm One told Complex when asked about her inspiration and the album’s subject matter. “As of the past year or so, I’ve been exploring polyamory. That is the practice of maintaining multiple loving relationships. It is a super challenging lifestyle, to say the least. Ups and downs, tears and joy. I have always been a serial monogamist, so my life has been turned upside down. As a result, my music has gotten more lush, and I’ve been able to open up my platform and peer group to more incredible musicians. I’m very community oriented now. Not so much into ‘scenes.’ I’m into sharing my crazy life with amazing people who deserve it.”

PAUL WALL ALBUM ON VIBE

Texas rap kingpin Paul Wall is back with his new album, slab god, an homage to Houston car culture premiered by VIBE. With descriptive lyrics delivered with the “hip-hop dentist’s” signature Southern slang and funk/soul-inspired, trap-induced backdrops, Paul Wall transports the listener to his hometown, painting a picture so vivid that the listener would think they’re riding shotgun in his slab. “In Texas, Paul Wall’s name still rings bells as the man with candy paint and custom grillz for the low,” VIBE noted in their post. “But don’t think the hip-hop world has forgotten about one of Houston’s most visible spokesman.”

BOYTOY PREMIERE DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ‘GRACKLE’

Grackle was chosen as the album’s name, first as a nod to SXSW, as the bird nearly out numbers music fans and industry during the annual Austin, Texas conference, and secondly based on the Mexican folklore of the bird, called Zanate in Spanish. Having no voice of its own, the grackle stole its seven distinct songs from the wise and knowing sea turtle. You can hear the Zanate’s vocals as the Seven Passions (Love, Hate, Fear, Courage, Joy, Sadness, and Anger) of life.
