MEREDITH MONK TO RECEIVE NATIONAL MEDAL OF THE ARTS
On the heels of last year’s celebration of her 50th season as a performing and creative artist, the White House has announced that Meredith Monk will be among the recipients of the 2014 National Medal of Arts. The highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the United States government, it is awarded by the President of the United States to individuals or groups who “…are deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in the United States.” President Obama will award the 2014 National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medal in the East Room of the White House on Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2015. NICK DIAMONDS NEW SINGLE
Nick Thorburn (aka Nick Diamonds) is a Canadian musician, composer and producer best known for starting and co-fronting the cult indie rock band The Unicorns when he was still a teenager. The band’s first full-length album Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone? was named one of the Top 10 Albums by Pitchfork in 2003, receiving critical praise from around the world. After only one year of touring, the band imploded on stage in Texas in 2004, due to internal friction. Thorburn immediately went on to form the band Islands, signing with Anti- Records and eventually releasing 5 full length studio albums and touring the world, with appearances at festivals as diverse as Coachella, Primavera Sound and La Route Du Rock.

HIBRIA TOUR POSTPONED
Unleashing their fifth and latest self-titled full length for North American release on August 7th, 2015 via Test Your Metal Records, Brazil’s power metallers HIBRIA were supposed to tour both the USA and Canada this September and October in support of the release, which included an appearance at this year’s sold out Power Prog USA XVI on September 11th. But due to issues with visa’s for the tour beyond their control, the band has been forced to postpone all their North American dates w/ Unleash The Archers (dates listed below).

Able Island was recorded in 2014 on what Cudmore, Neil MacIntosh (Drums/Percussion) and Joel Visentin (Keys/Synth Bass) call their “floating studio”, during a Trans-Canada tour in basements, hotel rooms, alleyways, and the back of their van, using homemade microphones, capturing the sounds of wind blowing down a stove pipe, the crackling of a fireplace, the voices of their audience, making reverb chambers out of large soup pots, and mixing as they drove through the Rocky Mountains. Produced by Language Arts, the songs were handed off to their kindred collaborator Darryl Neudorf (Neko Case/The Sadies) to mix, and Peter Moore (Neko Case/Neil Young/Joni Mitchell/Sloan) to master.
BOOTS ANNOUNCES NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES PERFORMANCES
BOOTS will make his first-ever headline performances at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on November 13th and Los Angeles’ Echo on November 19th as part of Red Bull Sound Select’s 30 Days in LA. The world was given a taste of BOOTS’ raging live act in March during his blinding television debut on The Tonight Show that left the studio audience and viewers at home stunned.

Vita Museum is a London based alternative rock band, created in 2014 by Ivan King (The Silverblack) influenced by various genres like grunge, electro, gothic and industrial rock.

Between sets, Meek Mill, Santigold, DJ Mustard, Vic Mensa, Fabolous, De La Soul, Remy Banks and more were spotted hanging out at the New Era bungalow, chatting, making custom caps, and posing in front of the American flag installation made entirely out of caps.
Artists were also able to get their hands on the limited edition Roc Nation 9Fifty snapback, made by New Era Cap, designed exclusively for the Budweiser Made In America festival.
