AGORIA REMIXES “VERMILLION”
In his stirring remix of Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons’ “Vermillion,” Agoria focuses heavily on the vocals, propping them up with a deep, minimal inclined, backbone. The track throbs and grows in waves throughout it’s six and a half minute runtime and crescendos with soaring, bass heavy, synths. “I’m doing very few remixes at the moment, but when Damian sent me “Vermillion” just before Christmas I immediately fell in love with the vocals,” Agoria says. “I had no other choice but to cut my holiday short to make this remix. We exchanged a few tracks and ideas in the past but the timing never fit. I’m happy that we finally found the time to collaborate with each other.”
REDAIR “CHA CHA CHA”
Don’t get fooled by the title, “Cha Cha Cha” bears no relation to Cuban ballroom dancing or the late ’90s anthem from the now defunct Flipmode Squad. The collaborative efforts of the Chitown producer, Rediculus, and singer/songwriter, Airon Azure, unite under the moniker RedAir, and aim to add a new dimension to the windy city’s contemporary sound.
KINGCROW NEW ALBUM IN JUNE
Rome, Italy’s progressive metal masters, KINGCROW, have wrapped up the final touches on the band’s valiant sixth album, Eidos, and is preparing to release it through Sensory Records this June.
Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of such artists as Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Opeth, Anathema, Pink Floyd, Meshuggah, Radiohead, King Crimson and Massive Attack are all present in the music of KINGCROW. With each release, the band has taken a step further away from their original roots as a classic hard rock/metal band, and is today one of the most personal and exciting bands that Italy has to offer the scene.

To commemorate the compilation Adrian Younge has released a collaborative track with Ali Shaheed Muhammed (A Tribe Called Quest) Fab 5 Freddy and performances by Adrian’s 10 piece band, Venice Dawn, as well as Bilal, Ali Shaheed Mohammad, Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), and Karolina. This is the first show of it’s kind from the label in support of the Linear Labs sampler compilation set for release on May 19th.
NOISEY PREMIERES MBONGWANA STAR’S NEW ALBUM
Noisey premieres newly formed Congolese seven-piece band Mbongwana Star’s debut full-length album, From Kinshasa—out May 19 on World Circuit and distributed in North America by Nonesuch Records—calling it “eclectically awesome” and praising its “gleeful mish-mash of genres,” and referring to the band as “the Congolese septet who stitch together bombastic African rhythms with lithe guitars and sinuous basslines to make your body bang.” Listen to the album in its entirety HERE.

English singer/songwriter/guitarist Lianne La Havas has released the music video for her new single, “Unstoppable,” from her album Blood due later this summer. The video was shot in London and directed by Olivier Groulx (alt-J, Arcade Fire, Bastille, and Deerhunter). Billboard recently gave the song 4 out of 5 stars, noting that she is “donning a new confidence.” La Havas performed “Unstoppable” for the first time on TV on Later With Jools Holland last night in the UK.
