SPANK ROCK “WHITE ON WHITE CRIME”
Philly’s known party starter, Spank Rock, released “White (on white) Crime” for Black History Month. Produced by Frank Chase, the track brings light to sensitive subjects in rap from equality and misogyny to homophobia. NEX2KIN “THAT AIN’T YO BITCH”
Chicago-based hip hop duo, Nex2Kin (@nex2kin), today officially dropped its hot, club record, “That Aint Yo B!tch” ft. Young Lyxx (@younglyxx), produced by Great Lakes (@lakethegreat) and mastered by Paris Bueller (@parisbueller). “That Ain’t Yo B!tch” is the follow-up record to “I Ain’t Wit It,” which was featured on MTV late last year, and is the first record released from Nex2Kin’s upcoming mixtape, “Cheeks & Drinks.”

Formed in a warehouse in late 2013, Only Shadows have been described by the likes of Amazing Radio as “One of the UK’s brightest hopes for guitar music” The band have in their very short life span supported the likes of Coasts, Saint Raymond & Mercury nominee Ghost Poet.

Guitar virtuoso Theodore Kalantzakos and his electro jazz group TKG announce new EP, titled “Rise from the Ground”, available worldwide on March 4th, 2015.
“Rise from the Ground” is an ambient electro jazz EP with hip hop grooves, cinematic atmosphere and world/ethnic elements. Theodore – like in TKG previous releases “No Shortcuts (Paving the Way Forward)” and “Parallels” – makes extended use of the fretless guitar, playing most of the melodies and improvisations.

“Cell Boomin” is an aggressive track, yet it drives with its minimal, cell phone-sampling production. “The ups of trappin’ on the phone is that people don’t knock on your door,” Maxo Kream explains, adding “the downs is that they blow your phone up when you’re out.” Maxo tells Complex in their premiere post that he met the featured Awful Records rapper at Fools Gold Day Off in Miami, and he chose to get him on the track because “he knows about phones and Instagram bitches.” Following video singles “Clientele,” “End Zone,” and “Trigga Maxo,” “Cell Boomin” supports Maxo’s unmistakable persona, giving audiences a glimpse before the release of his highly anticipated project, #MAXO187.
FONKYNSON EP STREAM
While growing up in France, Valentin Huchon was greatly influenced by his father’s music – the iconic classic rock sounds of Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones, etc. His interest quickly shifted towards electronic music, however, upon early exposure to The Chemical Brothers and Motorbass, and Huchon would continue to dive deeper into the world of house, techno and drum’n’bass.

THE MAINE “MILES AWAY”
Alt-rock bands aren’t known for train songs the way that country or blues artists are, but Arizona group The Maine found inspiration on the rails for their new tune “Miles Away.” The song premieres today on Speakeasy.
It’s a taut, hooky rock song packed with bright guitars and a hard-hitting drum sound as singer John O’Callaghan chronicles a getaway rooted in a trip he took shortly before the band began recording the album in a studio they assembled in Joshua Tree, Calif.
TUJAMO & JACOB PLANT RELEASE “ALL NIGHT”
After the huge success of Jacob Plant’s propulsive singles “Shakedown” and “Fire” – both released on Calvin Harris’ label Fly Eye in 2013 – London born Jacob Plant teams up with German Beatport chart-topper Tujamo for “All Night”, out March 9th on Fly Eye.

New York Hardcore legends Sworn Enemy have announced the dates of the No Mercy No Surrender Tour 2015. Wretched (VIctory Records), Dark Sermon (Goodfight Music), and Hammer Fight will be joining them on the tour, kicking off April 7th in Charleston, South Carolina and working it’s way throughout the U.S. and wrapping up on May 1st in Providence, Rhode Island. Sworn Enemy will be touring in support of their latest record Living on Borrowed Time (Rock Ridge Music/ADA) which landed on two of Billboard’s top charts including #8 on The Heatseekers Chart and #20 on the Hard Music Chart.

ETANA & VP RECORDS JOIN THE FIGHT TO “STOP EBOLA AND BUILD FOR THE FUTURE”
Led by the United African Congress, Give Them a Hand Foundation and the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation – Etana and VP Records have joined the effort to fight Ebola and participate in the “Stop Ebola and Build For the Future” campaign and concert at the United Nations on Mon. March 2, 2015. These initiatives will benefit the efforts to combat the worst outbreak of the disease affecting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone through a multi-pronged approach focused on spreading prevention information and providing training, building a robust system of support for those impacted (especially children orphaned by the disease) and building community clinics in the affected countries.

Pop artist Young Brother independently released his first single “Kamikaze” today, available now at all digital music services.
Formed in April 2014, Young Brother is the solo project of Nashville-based artist Dalton Diehl. Young Brother’s debut single, “Kamikaze,” was co-produced by Dustin Burnett (Augustana, Dave Barnes) and Ruslan Odnoralov. “Kamikaze” is the first of three singles, two remixes, and an EP that are set to be released later this spring.

ALESSO “COOL” VIDEO
Swedish DJ/producer Alesso has released the new music video to his second track “Cool” ft. Roy English from his upcoming highly anticipated debut album out later this year via Def Jam Recordings / Virgin EMI. The video sees Alesso taking his most playful role yet as a nerdy high school student who wins his teacher’s heart with a series of wild dance routines. It was directed by Emil Nava and shot at the historic Venice Beach High School where iconic films Grease, American History X, and Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time” video were filmed.
SIR UNE PLAGE “MINIMUM”
Vancouver-based Sur Une Plage combines the talents of Joshua Wells (of Black Mountain and Lightning Dust, among others) and Colin McKill (of Lord Beginner and Hard Drugs, among others). Discussed primarily as a concept for some time, Wells and McKill eventually began work on Sur Une Plage in December of 2013 at the Balloon Factory, Wells’ Vancouver studio. Eschewing the “traditional” band format of which they are both veterans, Sur Une Plage instead employs a clinical, precise approach to arrangement, utilizing an era-and-genre-pillaging pirates’ collection of sequenced hardware and hand-massaged analogue textures.

Check out the music video premiere for Alcoa’s single “All Dolled Up” via AVClub Music now. The track appears on the band’s new LP, Parlour Tricks, which was released last Tuesday. The album’s influences are apparent; vocalist Derek Archambault spent a lot of time listening to artists like Gram Parsons, Elliot Smith, Rocky Votolato and Ryan Adams when he formed Alcoa back in 2002.
