Chicago-based hip hop duo, Nex2Kin (@nex2kin), today officially dropped its hot, club record, “That Aint Yo B!tch” ft. Guitar virtuoso Theodore Kalantzakos and his electro jazz group TKG announce new EP, titled “Rise from the Ground”, available worldwide on March 4th, 2015.
“Rise from the Ground” is an ambient electro jazz EP with hip hop grooves, cinematic atmosphere and world/ethnic elements. Theodore – like in TKG previous releases “No Shortcuts (Paving the Way Forward)” and “Parallels” – makes extended use of the fretless guitar, playing most of the melodies and improvisations.

THE MAINE “MILES AWAY”
Alt-rock bands aren’t known for train songs the way that country or blues artists are, but Arizona group The Maine found inspiration on the rails for their new tune “Miles Away.” The song premieres today on Speakeasy.
It’s a taut, hooky rock song packed with bright guitars and a hard-hitting drum sound as singer John O’Callaghan chronicles a getaway rooted in a trip he took shortly before the band began recording the album in a studio they assembled in Joshua Tree, Calif.

ALESSO “COOL” VIDEO
Swedish DJ/producer Alesso has released the new music video to his second track “Cool” ft. Roy English from his upcoming highly anticipated debut album out later this year via Def Jam Recordings / Virgin EMI. The video sees Alesso taking his most playful role yet as a nerdy high school student who wins his teacher’s heart with a series of wild dance routines. SIR UNE PLAGE “MINIMUM”
Vancouver-based Sur Une Plage combines the talents of Joshua Wells (of Black Mountain and Lightning Dust, among others) and Colin McKill (of Lord Beginner and Hard Drugs, among others). Discussed primarily as a concept for some time, Wells and McKill eventually began work on Sur Une Plage in December of 2013 at the Balloon Factory, Wells’ Vancouver studio. Eschewing the “traditional” band format of which they are both veterans, Sur Une Plage instead employs a clinical, precise approach to arrangement, utilizing an era-and-genre-pillaging pirates’ collection of sequenced hardware and hand-massaged analogue textures.
