Flame haired Northern Irish singer-songwriter JANET DEVLIN introduces herself to North America with her debut album Running With Scissors, which will be available in North America on February 10th, 2015 via OK!Good Records. Packed with folk-driven pop songs and heart touching ballads, the 10-track album fully showcases Janet’s unique and enchanting vocals, which first caught the public’s attention on Series 8 of The UK X Factor in 2011.

SARPANITUM NEW SINGLE
Blessed Be My Brothers is the imminent new full-length from atmospheric blackened death metal strategists, SARPANITUM, who feature within their rants current and former affiliates of Mithras, Lantlos and Tenebrous Aeon.
The ten-track follow-up to 2011’s critically-championed Fedelium EP, SARPANITUM’s Blessed Be My Brothers was composed over a two-year period, tracked at Dreaming Studios UK by drummer Leon Macey (Contrarian, Mithras, The Senseless et al) and delivers a delightfully diseased fusion of traditional death metal, blackened riff onslaughts, and twisted melodic atmospheres all centered on the abysmal consequence of religious warfare. Disciples worshipping at the altars of Gorguts, Nile, Anata, Kataklysm, Morbid Angel, Ulcerate and the like should pay heed.

HIGH FLYING BIRDS NEW VIDEO
Chasing Yesterday marks a new chapter and sound for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It’s the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel and features a much broader array of instrumentation than ever before; the result is a rich, expansive and multi-layered record, drawing from a range of disparate influences – from west coast rock to classic rock’n’roll and even some space jazz (!) – whilst still being very obviously a completely cohesive body of work. On producing the album, Noel said:
“It was a major pain in the arse. It’s not that I’ve ever had people telling me what to write or what direction to go in, but managing sessions from one end of the week to the other proved extremely difficult. I had all these people looking at me and saying: ‘right, what are we doing today?’ I was making the whole thing up as I went along.”

PORTLAND, OREGON-BASED BAND THE SLANTS TAKE TRADEMARK FIGHT TO FEDERAL COURT
Portland, Oregon-based Asian-American rock band, dubbed “Chinatown dance-rock,” The Slants are taking their trademark battle to federal court. Comprised of Simon Young (bass), Tyler Chen (drums), Will Moore (lead guitar), Thai Dao (guitar/keys), and Ken Shima (vocals), the quintet has tried for years to trademark “The Slants,” but has been rejected twice by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Band founder and leader Simon Tam (who’s stage name is Simon Young) formally applied for a trademark in 2010, but a trademark examiner rejected the application, saying that a substantial portion of the Asian-American community would be offended. Tam tried again in 2011, dropping the “reclaiming a stereotype” position and arguing that there is nothing inherently racist about the word “slants.” The same trademark examiner again rejected the application.

Considered one of the pioneers of West Coast jazz, Pepper began his career on L.A.’s Central Avenue, a hotbed of black music, blues, and swing and made his name in Stan Kenton’s Big Band. Pepper also collaborated with Hoagy Carmichael, Art Farmer, Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, and Johnny Griffin and led and recorded with his own ensembles. His career was repeatedly interrupted by prison stints related to his heroin addiction, but he embarked on comebacks each time, his superior level of musicianship never compromised. He co-authored his autobiography titled Straight Life: The Story of Art Pepper, with his wife, Laurie.
