The MuseBox today announced that Los Angeles songstress LAYNE will release her new EP Warrior on January 2nd. Raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota, singer/songwriter LAYNE is a young, restless spirit intent on discovering new geographic, as well as sonic, territories. This spring she released her second EP, Mind Games, on the heels of her performances at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin. LAYNE’s first two records can be found on her official site.
LAYNE attributes the natural curiosity that inspires her music to the scenic hills that shaped her childhood experiences: “Growing up in the Black HIlls gave me the desire to want to explore and invent.” Geography was not the only major influence on the young LAYNE, however. Her father, Kenny Putnam, was a musician who spent many years touring with Roy Clark. There were always instruments around the house, and those seemed to fascinate LAYNE more than conventional toys.
