MERCURE DIOR NEW VIDEO ON EARMILK

19-year-old Maryland-based Cameroonian rapper MerCure Dior stands amid colorful, flashing lights and images from throwback television shows in the visual for “Ok, Straight,” from his forthcoming self-titled debut EP. The video debuts via EARMILK, who says, “he lets his rhymes and flow flow do the heavy-lifting.” The single has a consistent, powerful bassline paired with eery vocal effects and a resounding guitar riff, giving a wavey, echoey feel to the music. Combine this with the visual intensity of the music video and everything seems to fall into place. Through well crafted lyrics and a catchy chorus, the song dismisses notions of doubt and serves to inspire listeners to stay calm and focused through life’s adversities.

BEECHWOOD SHARES NEW SINGLE VIA AD HOC

Beechwood is an original rock and roll group from NYC formed in 2012. Carrying the torch of such infamous bands like The Stooges, MC5, and the New York Dolls, Beechwood’s music stems from a tradition originated in good ol’ fashioned juvenile delinquency. The trio consists of Gordon Lawrence, Isa Tineo, and Andy Manzaneres. Lawrence, the twenty-year old singer/guitarist, plays and sings with a mix of the sensitivity of artists such as Alex Chilton or Elliott Smith, with the visceral aggressiveness of the Raw Power-era Stooges. Tineo (21) matches Lawrence’s style, playing drums with a style that often leaves hands bloodied and drum heads dismembered. And bassist Manzanares (20), the quiet one of the group, leaves people in awe over the authority he demonstrates over his instrument, all the while wondering whether he’s a boy or a girl.

NEW SINGLE BY TGWDE

Incorporating elements of electro-funk, soul, and hip-hop, That Girl With Dark Eyes (TGWDE) is an exquisite synth-pop experience. The musical project of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tiffany Garrett Sotomayor, TGWDE draws inspiration from artists like Prince and Imperial Teen, creating glittering and evocative melodies potently infused with vintage synths and analog drum machines. The result? Poignant pop music that could easily be described as the lovechild of Miami Horror and Tegan & Sara.
