DAVE MATTHEWS BAND’S BAMA WORKS FUND AWARDS $100,000 GRANT TO WEST, TEXAS

The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band has awarded a $100,000 grant to the West, Texas Disaster Relief Efforts Fund. Established by three local foundations – Cooper, Rapoport, and Waco – the West, Texas Disaster Relief Efforts Fund has been endorsed by the West City Council as the preferred recipient of all charitable donations for victims and relief efforts following the fertilizer plant explosion that took place on April 17, 2013 in West, Texas.

More than 200 people were injured in the explosion and 15 people lost their lives, including 11 firefighters. A school, a nursing home, an apartment complex and nearly 100 homes were heavily damaged (with some structures completely destroyed) and must be demolished.
