After thirty years and ten albums (three of which were co-produced with Daniel Lanois), Martha Johnson, most widely known as the lead singer of seminal Canadian art pop band Martha and the Muffins, has recorded her first ever solo album SOLO – ONE to be released June 26th, 2013. Exclaim.ca is currently premiering a new live video featuring “See Saw Eyes” HERE.
The new album features songs written in her distinctive style with artists such as Ron Sexsmith, Will Whitwham (the Wilderness of Manitoba), Alister Johnson (Grand Analog), Hill Kourkoutis (Hill and The Sky Heroes) and, of course, Mark Gane (Martha and the Muffins). Martha’s career has had many highlights including opening for Roxy Music at Wembley Arena in London, winning a Juno for Single of the Year for international hit song Echo Beach and selling 250,000 copies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland of a song called Troy that she co-wrote with the German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier.
