LISA RICHARDS POSTS “FIRST SIN”

“Once we slip into survival mode, we are capable of doing many things as a matter of course.” says Lisa Richards of the meaning behind her latest single “First Sin.” Richards was inspired by the novel “Those Who Save Us” by Jenna Blum about a German woman’s survival during World War II. “I found it very easy to put myself in this woman’s shoes” said Richards, “all over the world there are women living in poverty and in war zones that are surviving by exchanging sex for food, sex for protection, sex for survival.”

When writing “First Sin” Richards had an idea of the soundscape of the song being evocative and reflecting the era. “I heard cello, piano accordion and melodica   as being a part of this soundscape…dark cafe, cobblestone streets, soldiers out drinking.” “First Sin” is the latest single off of Richards album Beating of the Sun, out now.
