Ray C , a native of San Antonio, began his career as an underground hip-hop artist while earning his Masters degree at Texas State University. He earned a name for himself dominating freestyle battles and as a top 8 finalist in BET 106 & Park: Freestyle Friday. He was also featured n BET’s “The Deal” and has opened for numerous big name artists including Paul Wall and Chamillionaire.

Ray C has developed a reputation beyond that of a local hip hop artist, but that of an indispensable community leader. Upon graduation, Ray has continued to work at Texas State University mentoring students through Upward Bound programs and TRIO, a federal program designed to provide opportunities and services to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. For Ray C, being a local hip hop artist goes beyond just performing at local clubs, but building the foundation of a strong community.
