Chris Funk from the Decemberists worked with fellow-Portlanders, Y La Bamba, on their proper debut LP and, more recently, the “Holidays Rule” compilation which features the band. The band’s last effort was last years critically acclaimed Steve Berlin-produced “Court the Storm” LP. Stunning front-woman, Luzelena Mendoza’s, songs draw from her strict Catholic upbringing as an only daughter of a Mexican immigrant, a debilitating illness that lead her to fall away from her faith, and the vocal harmonies of the Latin music she grew up around.
