CAPITOL RECORDS TO RELEASE 19-YEAR-OLD CONOR MAYNARD IN THE US

EMI Music is pleased to announce that it will be releasing 19-year-old British singer and songwriter Conor Maynard’s debut album Contrast via Capitol Records in the US on September 18th. Conor has already created a buzz in his home country with the debut single “Can’t Say No,” which shot to No. 2 on the UK Singles chart in April and will follow with a highly anticipated July release of the album. In July, Capitol Records will release his debut US single “Vegas Girl,” which is the lead-off track from Conor’s upcoming album.

Hailing from the British seaside town of Brighton, Conor grew up listening to such artists as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Usher, and Justin Timberlake. He began uploading videos of himself singing his favorite songs to YouTube in 2008.   Encouraged by the positive response they received, he posted a range of hits that showcased his soulful voice, including Chris Brown’s “Crawl,” (which Brown raved about when he tweeted the link), “Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite,” Rihanna’s “Only Girl,” and Ne-Yo’s “Beautiful Monster,” which racked up millions of views. Both Ne-Yo and Taio were so impressed with Conor’s performance that, separately, they contacted Conor at home in the UK and offered to produce and sign him.
