Fereshta, Global Citizen

What better way to promote peace and love than through music and that is exactly what indie artist Fereshta is doing.   Call her the “the voice of humanity” or even the voice of reasoning as Fereshta attempts to bring unity to ALL on her debut album ‘Global Citizen’.   Good always triumphs over evil so let’s get into this.

Born in Afghanistan and eventually moving to the United States, Fereshta hopes to ease the tensions between the two countries through her songs.   This talented musician has a way with words that will definitely move you and maybe even inspire you.   The record starts up with a song titled “Amends” where right away you pick up on a real rock ‘n’ roll sound.   This continues throughout the 12-track set where you hear Fereshta performing music that comes straight from the soul.   This artist truly has that rock & roll spirit that is alive and well inside her.   You’ll also experience an international influence at times like on “Untie My Hands” and then receive a global mystique and deep spiritual sense on “Human Frailty”.   The album ends on a real nice touch that will make you feel good and leave you with a fresh taste in your mouth on “Warm Gentle Breeze”.

There are some catchy ‘n’ cool guitar moments on this record and Fereshta’s voice has that distinct & pleasing quality overall.   What I loved most about ‘Global Citizen’ is that it really speaks to you.   What do you get when you mix together good, old-fashioned rock, words of wisdom and world fusion?   You get ‘Global Citizen’ and an artist who cares about the well-being of this planet.   To further stress Fereshta’s humanitarian ways it’s worth mentioning that part of the proceeds from her CD release party and album sales will go toward girls’ education and the building of schools in Afghanistan through the Central Asia Institute.   One step at a time we can make this world a better place to live in for ALL of us and Fereshta’s first release is sure to make a big impact.   Long live rock and roll and long live LIFE!
