Singer- songwriter, harmonica player, contemporary blues man, Tim Gartland releases his first solo CD titled, “Looking In The Sun” on September 13, 2011. The album’s 10 original tracks showcase Gartland’s gift for fusing traditional blues styling with contemporary modern themes.
Tim started playing the harmonica when he was 13 and began a musical journey in Chicago, guided by the blues. His musical style has evolved into a synthesis of the” greats” – Little Water for his harp playing, Ray Charles for his interpretation of a song, and Willie Dixon for his song writing. He studied with Jerry Portnoy (Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton) and played with such greats as Bo Diddley, Big Jack Johnson and Pinetop Perkins. Tim is a brilliant harmonica player demonstrating taste, bite, restraint and power. Track 8, entitled Staxed, is an instrumental tribute to the R&B Stax Records sound, and a delightfully fun showcase for the Harmonica.
