SELENA GOMEZ & THE SCENE DEBUT AT NUMBER FOUR!

Selena Gomez & The Scene’s third album, When The Sun Goes Down, debuted at number four on the Billboard album chart last week, selling over 78-thousand copies.   It marks the best opening sales week in her young career.   Gomez & The Scene will kick off their first headlining tour in Boca Raton, Florida on July 28th with label mates Allstar Weekend and Internet phenomenon Christina Grimmie.

SELENA GOMEZ TOPS SOCIAL 50 CHART

Selena Gomez leaps four notches to number one on Billboard’s Social 50 chart this week.   Ironically, the singer and actress knocked her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, off the summit.   Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce and Eminem round out the top ten.  

KATY PERRY, LIL WAYNE & TAYLOR SWIFT AMONG HOTTEST SUMMER CONCERTS

MTV News invited a panel of experts to weigh in on this summer’s hottest tours.   Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Britney Spears are among the biggest and most-talked about shows this summer.   U2, Foo Fighters and My Morning Jacket are also on the list.  

JOE JONAS DEBUTED NEW SONGS IN BROOKLYN

Joe Jonas performed four songs at the Sounds Like Paper Magazine Party at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, New York last week.   It marked Jonas’ first shows since his older brother Kevin got married and the Jonas Brothers went on an unofficial hiatus more than a year ago.   Joe performed songs like “Love Slayer” and his Chris Brown-penned single “See No More.” Joe Jonas’ debut album, Fast Life, will arrive in September.  

ADELE RETURNS TO THE STAGE

Late last week, Adele returned to the stage for the first time since she had to cancel her American tour due to problems with her voice.   It was at the iTunes Festival in London, and the singer performed a bevy of her hits, and even did a cover of the Bonnie Raitt classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”   Check out Adele performing some of the song at NME.com.

KATY AND RUSSELL TALKS CATS

Katy Perry and Russell Brand both came into their marriage with cats, but the pets don’t always get along.   So apparently, the couple has hired a “cat whisperer.”   The pop star told Us Weekly that the whisperer “realigned their chakras and did some hypnosis,” and that is was pretty “extravagant.”   The pair has three cats, including one named Kitty Purry.

REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE LIKES GAGA

Tim Pawlenty, a Republican who is running for President, seems to be a fan of Lady Gaga.   The politician was asked by the Washington Post what his favorite Gaga tune is, and he has quite the elaborate answer.   He said that “in terms of the beat,” he likes “Bad Romance,” but that “Born This Way” also has some appeal.   Read more at WashingtonPost.com.

MORE DETAILS ON TRAIN’S WINE CLUB

Some more info has been revealed about Train’s new wine-line, Drops of Jupiter Petite Sirah.   Guitarist Jimmy Stafford took to the band’s wine club blog to announce that a bottle will cost just under ten bucks, and that once you uncork it, the “boysenberry fruit leaps from your glass.”   Read more at TrainWineClub.com.   The wine will be available a week from today (7/18).

LIFEHOUSE ARE IN THE STUDIO

Lifehouse are apparently back in the studio.   A tweet from the band’s official Twitter page said that it’s “time to work” and that they’re recording a song called “Angeline.”   Be sure to follow the group for updates @LifehouseMusic.

SLASH WORKING ON SONG FOR ANIMATED FILM

Slash has been busy working on his new music, but he also created a song for the original Disney Channel movie, Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension.   On Twitter, the rocker calls the flick his “guilty pleasure” and revealed he’ll appear in the animated video which launches the film.   He called the movie, “very rock and roll, even for a cartoon.”   The film premieres on the Disney Channel at 8 PM on August 5th.
