LIL WAYNE TOPS DIGITAL SONGS CHART

Lil Wayne tops the Digital Songs chart this week with “Right Above It” featuring Drake, which sold over 225-thousand downloads. It’s the first number one for Wayne on this chart and it’s his best sales week as a lead artist.   Wayne’s big debut pushes aside last week’s number one, Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” which slides to number three behind Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” which climbs one spot to number two.   Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” leaps six spots to number six, while Nelly’s “Just a Dream” debuts at number eight.

EMINEM’S RECOVERY STILL NUMBER ONE!

Eminem’s Recovery is on top of the Billboard album chart for its seventh non-consecutive week, selling another 116-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   Recovery scores the most weeks atop the chart since Taylor Swift’s Fearless strung together 11 non-consecutive weeks in late 2008 and early 2009.   Recovery also notches the most weeks at number one for a male artist’s album since Usher’s Confessions earned nine weeks in the top slot in 2004, and the most for a hip-hop effort since OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below scored seven on top in late 2003 and early 2004.

KATY PERRY EYES NUMBER ONE DEBUT

Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream is on target to sell between 170 to 200-thousand copies, according to Billboard.   Those numbers would ensure the “California Gurls” singer a number one debut.   Former American Idol champ Fantasia is looking for a big week too.
