CD BABY REACHES $150 MILLION IN ARTIST PAYMENTS

CD Baby, the world’s largest online distributor of independent music, has surpassed the milestone of $150 million in payments to the independent artists who sell their downloads and CDs through the company. Starting from humble beginnings in a garage in Woodstock, NY, CD Baby has become one of the world’s largest digital distributors, and expects to pay close to $40 million to artists in 2010.

“Independent artists are frequently marginalized by the music industry. These stats prove once again that collectively, DIY artists are a force to be reckoned with,” stated Brian Felsen, president of CD Baby. “And we’re picking up momentum, with new title signups doubling in recent months.”

Artists can create an account, upload audio and artwork, and choose their digital distribution preferences at https://members.cdbaby.com.
