BIRTHDAY SHOUTOUT: TABOO FROM BEP!

Today marks the 35th birthday of Jaime Gomez, better known as Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas.   The band is currently out on their The E.N.D. World Tour, which rolls into Saria, Ontario on Sunday.  

BRITNEY SPEARS GLEE EPISODE

“Gleeks” unite!   Next season, the Emmy-nominated series Glee will feature a Britney Spears-themed episode.   According to TV Guide, “Gleeks” won’t have to wait too long as the Spears episode is set to be the second show to air next season.   No word yet on which songs will be used.

U2 RESCHEDULE TOUR DATES

U2 have officially rescheduled their 360 º Tour dates that were cancelled in the wake of Bono’s emergency back surgery. The Irish band is set to play those rescheduled shows in the spring and summer of 2011, starting with a show on May 21st, 2011 in Denver. The guys are still on track to kick off a European tour on August 6th in Turin, Italy.

BILLBOARD CHART REWIND: 2003

According to Billboard.com, seven years ago this week, Beyonce landed her first solo number ones on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard album chart.   The singer climbed two spots to the summit of the Hot 100 chart back on July 12th, 2003 with “Crazy in Love” featuring then-future husband Jay-Z.   Her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, entered the Billboard album chart at number one.   At the time, Beyonce had already banked four chart-toppers with Destiny’s Child: “Bills, Bills, Bills” in 1999, “Say My Name” and “Independent Women Part I” in 2000 and “Bootylicious” in 2001.  

SELENA GOMEZ & THE SCENE ON AMERICA’S GOT TALENT

Selena Gomez & The Scene will perform on the first results show of NBC’s America’s Got Talent tonight.     Gomez and her band will premiere their single “Round & Round” from their upcoming album, A Year Without Rain, which comes out September 21st.   The cast of Rock of Ages, featuring Constantine Maroulis, will also perform a medley of songs from the show with a surprise special guest.   America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 PM Eastern on NBC. Nick Cannon hosts while Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Piers Morgan round out the celebrity panel of judges.

SELENA GOMEZ TALKS END OF WAVERLY PLACE

Selena Gomez has announced that the next season of her popular TV series Wizards of Waverly Place will be her last. The Disney star told MTV News she is heartbroken about the end of the show and it’s going to be a terrible time for her.   Good thing she can focus on her budding film career as well as her music success.   Gomez stars in the new film Ramona and Beezus, which arrives in theaters on July 23rd.   She will also release her new album, A Year Without Rain, on September 21st.    

RUNNER RUNNER ON JBTV!

Runner Runner will be featured on this week’s episode of JBTV with an interview and performance that will include their debut single, “So Obvious.”   The show airs Wednesday, at 9:00 AM Eastern at JBTVOnline.com and then is available on iTunes as a podcast the following day.

EMINEM TOPS ITUNES CHART

Eminem’s “Love the Way you Lie” once again swaps places with Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg, on the iTunes chart.   Em’s song climbs back to the summit after one week, pushing Perry’s summertime hit to number two.   Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” leaps to number three followed by B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore and “Billionaire” from Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars.   Eminem’s Recovery tops the album chart for the third straight week, followed by Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot… The Son of Chico Dusty, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, Drake’s Thank Me Later and Incubus singer Brandon Boyd’s solo album, The Wild Trapeze.

KE$HA TALKS FASHION

In the most recent issue of People magazine, Ke$ha speaks about what outfits you can expect to see her wearing while on tour with Rihanna.   The “Tik Tok” singer says that she’s “attracted to shiny things,” and that wearing heels are a “no-no.”   Read more at People.com.

KYLIE MAKES U-K CHART HISTORY

Kylie Minogue has made history.   With her most recent album Aphrodite going to number one in the U-K, she has now become the first artist to top the British charts in the ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s and ‘10s.   Aphrodite is now in stores in the U-S as well.

FERGIE GETS POLITICAL

The Black Eyed Peas performed at T in the Park in Scotland over the weekend, and frontwoman Fergie took a little time to discuss some politics with NME.com.   The pop star told the website that she believes that President Barack Obama has “really helped” the U-S when it comes to “the way people think about America,” but that she wishes he would “do more for gay marriages.”   Read more at NME.com.

LIFEHOUSE ON LOPEZ TONIGHT

Lopez Tonight is going to have a special music guest on tomorrow night’s program.   Lifehouse wrote on their official website that they’ll be performing on the hit late night program, which is of course hosted by comedian George Lopez.   Lopez Tonight airs weeknights at 11 PM Eastern on TBS.

CHRIS DAUGHTRY TALKS NEW VIDEO, TWINS

Chris Daughtry just posted a brand new video blog online to keep fans up to date with what’s going on in his life.   The former American Idol contestant said that the band is finishing editing the video for their latest single “September,” and also that the twins that he and wife Deanna are having are going to be a boy and girl.   He went on to say that they have already picked out names, but that he doesn’t want to reveal them quite yet.   See the whole update now at DaughtryOfficial.com.

JOHN MAYER DISCUSSES HEARTBREAK

GAGA KEEPS IT LOW KEY WITH DAD

It’s not easy to go unnoticed when you’re one of the most recognizable musicians on the planet, but Lady Gaga somehow managed to have a peaceful night out with her dad in New York City over the weekend.   A source told the Daily News that no one disturbed the pop star and her father while they had drinks on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and that it probably had to do with the fact that she was “much more dressed down and covered up than she usually is.”   The source said she was just “wearing black and a pair of sunglasses,” but that she was not in “one of her super-crazy getups.”

HARD L.A. CANCELED!

Hard L.A., the electronic music festival scheduled for July 17th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, has been canceled. According to Billboard, the event was called off due to security concerns following the drug-related death a 15-year-old girl who attended last month’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Times, 226 injuries — 114 of which required attention at hospitals — were reported during the two-day dance event. The Hard L.A. festival was set to feature performances from M.I.A., N*E*R*D and many more.   Information on how to obtain refunds for the canceled date will be provided July 13th at HardFest.com.   The Hard NYC event featuring M.I.A. at Governors Island on July 24th will continue as planned.  

LUDACRIS, TYRESE PREP NEW FAST AND FURIOUS

We’ve just learned Ludacris is scheduled to re-join the Fast and Furious franchise. Alongside Tyrese, the rapper will appear in the latest installment, which is titled Fast 5. Luda, who portrayed race host “Tej” in the 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious movie, tweeted that he “just landed in Puerto Rico” to begin shooting scenes. Fans of the film can expect Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Paul Walker and Tego Calderon to also star in the flick. IMDB.com reports Fast 5 will open June of next year.

RIHANNA BACK ON SPEAKING TERMS WITH CHRIS?

Rihanna is speaking to her ex boyfriend, Chris Brown, after watching his Michael Jackson tribute during the 2010 BET Awards. A source told Heat Magazine, “Seeing how emotional he was on set really touched her. She’d never seen him like that before. Chris told her that he felt like he’s grown up in the past year. He’s said he’s so happy to be back in touch with her.” The former couple hasn’t spoken in nearly a year since Brown was sentenced with community service for assaulting Rihanna.

They’ve has exchanged text messages with plans to meet face-to-face. However, under the terms of his probation, Chris must remain at least 100 yards away from Rihanna for five years.

JOHN LEGEND SHOOTS VIDEO IN BROOKLYN

According to BrooklynHeightsBlog.com, John Legend and The Roots just shot the video for “Wake Up Everybody” at Borough Hall yesterday morning in Brooklyn, New York. The cut is the first offering from the upcoming joint album, Wake Up! — which will arrive September 21st.     In addition, Melanie Fiona was spotted on the scene. “Wake Up Everybody” was originally released by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass in 1975.

TREY SONGZ AND NICKI DRAFT “BOTTOMS UP”

For the first time ever, Trey Songz and Nicki Minaj come together on a new song called “Bottoms Up.” Rap-Up.com reports the catchy tune is the first single off the R&B king’s upcoming album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure. Fans can get their “Trey fix” when the disc drops on September 14th.

LIL WAYNE WRITE TO HIS FANS FROM JAIL

Lil Wayne is keeping busy inside Riker’s Island by blogging to his fans on WeezyThanxYou.com.   In a new entry, Wayne   reveals he’s “counting the days” and “still smiling.” He even provides a run down of what its like behind bars. Weezy wrote that he “wakes up by 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That’s my day.” There’s only 112 days until Wayne completes his sentence for weapons possession.

RAEKWON AND EMINEM TO COLLABORATE?

Two of the most gifted lyricists, Eminem and Raekwon, are looking to collaborate for the first time. The former Wu Tang Clan member told XXLMag.com that he ran into Slim Shady at Switzerland’s Openair Festival and they’ve begun “schemin’ and plottin’” on a new song. While details are sparse, Rae warned, “Get ready man this is gonna happen soon.”

MARY J BLIGE SUED OVER “TAKE ME” SINGLE

According to AllHipHop.com, Mary J Blige is being sued by songwriters for allegedly stealing her 2006 single “Take Me As I Am.”   Songwriters Ballard and Jones claim MJB and producers The Clutch, which includes singer Keri Hilson, stole “original portions” from a similar song released in 1995. “Take Me As I Am” was included on Mary’s 2005 effort, The Breakthrough. Ballard and Jones are reportedly seeking compensation for royalties and publishing. Blige is yet to comment on the suit.

JAY-Z DENIES DEVIL WORSHIP RUMORS

To put the speculation to rest, Jay-Z addressed recent devil worship rumors in a new song called “Free Mason.” The track, which also features John Legend, will be included on Rick Ross’ upcoming Teflon Don album — which arrives July 20th. <WM>

NEW LINKIN PARK AROUND THE CORNER

In less than a month, Linkin Park are set to drop the first single off their upcoming new album. It’s a track called “The Catalyst” and will start spinning across the airwaves on August 2nd. The single is off their Rick Rubin produced new record, A Thousand Suns, which is out on September 14th.

JAY-Z MAKES HIGHEST GROSSING TOUR LIST

Wooha.com reports Jay-Z’s BP3 outing has debuted on PollStar’s Top 100 North American Tours list. Hova came in at number 12 after grossing 22.5-million dollars, according to the mid-year concert report. In addition, the Black Eyed Peas grabbed the number six spot for earning 29.5 million. TAYLOR SWIFT SINGS, PLAYS, AND… BOWLS?

If you thought six CMAs, three ACMs and six AMAs were enough for Taylor Swift, she’s added one more accolade. The singer has been nominated to be inducted into the International Bowling Museum Hall of Fame. This is a non-profit organization that promotes bowling. The nominees include other celebs who have been spotted out bowling, thus promoting the sport. Taylor is up against Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Bill Murray. JEWEL, THE COMEDIAN

Jewel played a hilarious prank on some people at a karaoke bar recently. In a video made for the website FunnyOrDie.com, Jewel dressed in a wig and a fake nose and posed as a girl out with co-workers who were at a frozen food convention. After her “co-workers” sang a few songs, she jumped on stage to perform. After singing a Jewel song, the crowd wanted more. No one knew it was her until she re-entered the bar without the makeup and wig on.  

STAIND SINGER SET TO RELEASE COUNTRY ALBUM

Aaron Lewis, lead singer of Staind, will be releasing his first country album. His first single, “Country Boy,” will feature George Jones, Hank Williams Jr. and Charlie Daniels. Aaron told Billboard, “It’s kind of somewhere between country, James Taylor, and the Staind hit ‘It’s Been Awhile.'” No release date has been set, but Aaron plans to tour to support the album in the fall.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD AND MIKE FISHER ENJOY TAHITI

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher landed in Tahiti on Monday to begin their romantic honeymoon. After arriving on the island, Carrie was greeted with a hand-crafted flower headband, while Mike opted for the traditional lei around his neck. The pair carried a coconut-shaped drink in their hands before heading off to the beach. Carrie wore a sparkling-black bikini and Mike was right behind her as the two enjoyed the ocean-blue water. It’s reported the two will head off to Bora Bora for a few days after their time in Tahiti.
