TRAVIE McCOY TO TOUR WITH RIHANNA AND KE$HA

Travie McCoy will join Rihanna on her hugely anticipated Last Girl On Earth Tour, set to hit the road beginning on July 2nd in Auburn, Washington.   The trek — which also features special guest Ke$ha — will then wind its way across North America, culminating August 28th at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. McCoy released his debut solo album, Lazarus, last week.

KATY PERRY & GLEE TOPS ITUNES CHARTS

Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg is the top downloaded song on iTunes this week.   B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams is at number two, followed by Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” featuring Bruno Mars.   Glee: The Music: Journey to Regionals is the top album, followed by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, Christina Aguilera’s Bionic, Jack Johnson’s To The Sea and Glee: The Music, Vol. 3 — Showstoppers.  

MILEY CYRUS MOVES UP ALBUM RELEASE DATE

Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed album will now hit stores one day earlier than originally planned.   The record is now due out on Monday.   The 17-year-old is nominated for four Teen Choice Awards including Choice Music: Female Artist, Choice Movie Actress: Drama and Choice Movie: Dance for The Last Song.   The 2010 Teen Choice Awards air on FOX on August 9th.  

B.O.B. DEBUTS “AIRPLANES” VIDEO

The wait is over. B.o.B. has finally released the video for his hit single, “Airplane” featuring Paramore’s Hayley Williams. The rap star told us that nobody can match the red-heads’ vocal ability or her great personality (See Related Cut #4). It seems like everyone can’t get enough of the song (See Related Cut #5). The track is lifted from the rapper’s debut album The Adventures of Bobby Ray. The Grand Hustle artist’s the second single is currently number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. COLDPLAY MUSIC TO APPEAR ON GLEE

According to Rolling Stone, we can expect the members of “New Directions” to perform Coldplay songs on Glee next season. The band has given the show access to their catalog, after initially not agreeing to have their music appear on the series. So fans can tune in next year to hear the chorus likely take on “Viva La Vida,” “Yellow” and more.

LADY GAGA CONFRONTS PERSON WITH CAMERA

Lady Gaga got caught making an obscene gesture at a baseball game last weekend, and it seems as if that wasn’t the only incident that she had. According to the New York Post, the pop star got mad at someone in a restaurant for taking a picture of her, and a source says that Gaga “pushed her security team out of the way to confront the shutterbug and demanded he delete the photo.”   The person who took the pic obliged, and Gaga went back to eating.

TAYLOR SWIFT SEES 10,000 FANS IN 15 HOURS

Nearly 10-thousand fans attended Taylor Swift’s meet-and greet which lasted 15-hours, two more than the 13-hours initially planned. Two-thousand of those fans were lucky enough to meet Taylor, while the rest were able to walk through exhibits. If you do the math of two-thousand fans in over 15 hours, subtracting the time during which Taylor performed, that works out to be 133 fans per hour, or a little over two people per minute.

LADY GAGA’S EXPENSIVE STAGE

There are multiple headliners at this year’s Lollapalooza including Green Day and Soundgarden, but no one is going to the do the festival quite like Lady Gaga.   Founder Perry Farrell told MTV News that the “Bad Romance” singer “asked for a giant stage” and that they spent close to 100-thousand dollars on it, and 150-thousand dollars overall to “house the production she’s gonna do.”   Lollapalooza kicks off August 6th in Chicago.

DOES GAGA OWE HER SUCCESS TO KYLIE?

Does Lady Gaga owe her success to Kylie Minogue?   The Aussie pop star told Black Book Magazine that she’d “love to think” that she played a part in the fact that dance music has now gone mainstream.   Because of this, Kylie said that she thinks there’s an “element” of her in Gaga.   Read more at BBook.com.

LEONA LEWIS THANKS HER FANS

Leona Lewis just wrapped up a couple of sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena, and she emotionally thanked her fans for the support.   According to ContactMusic.com, the “Bleeding Love” singer told the crowd from the stage that her career “really is a dream come true” and that she “couldn’t have done it without everyone here.”

RUSSELL DOESN’T GET EMBARRASSED BY KATY

Katy Perry may seem like a handful at times, but that’s not a problem for her fiancé, Russell Brand.   The comedian told Heat magazine that it doesn’t matter if she embarrasses him on the Internet or “makes up lies,” because she’s “very sweet” and “really loving.”   The couple is expected to tie the knot sometime later this year.

DRAKE TALKS ANDRE 3000 REJECTION

During an interview with Vibe magazine, Drake spilled that there was one feature he was hoping to get on his Thank Me Later album. Drizzy says he “really tried” to collaborate with Andre 3000, but he was denied because the Outkast rapper is very selective. The Young Money star explains 3-Stack feels Drake needs to “prove” himself.   Drake added that he hopes to work with Dre on his second album. In any case, Thank Me Later is available now.

GET A GLIMPSE INSIDE DRAKE’S LIFE!

Drake will take over MTV with an hour long documentary film called Drake: Better Than Good Enough. The Young Money rapper will allow cameras to delve deep into his lifestyle and show fans what it’s like to be him. Taped during his Away From Home tour, the documentary will show sides of Drizzy you’ve never seen before. Be sure to catch Drake: Better Than Good Enough when it airs on Wednesday, June 23rd at 10 PM Eastern on MTV.

JASON MRAZ WANTS TO END SLAVERY

While many celebs headed to Africa to go to the World Cup, Jason Mraz headed to the continent for another reason.   According to the Associated Press, the singer-songwriter took a trip to the country of Ghana with nonprofit organization Free The Slaves, which aims to “end slavery worldwide.”   Besides traveling around the country, Mraz visited a school where the students performed for him.   He’s the first celebrity to go to Africa with the organization.

JOHN MAYER WANTS HELP SOMEONE

If you haven’t of Zach Anner you probably will soon.   He’s a young man with cerebral palsy, but that didn’t stop him from sending in a hilarious audition tape to Oprah’s search to find the next TV star.   One person who saw it was John Mayer, and he was so impressed that he sent a video message to Zach saying that he would do whatever he could to help him get his own show, including writing him a theme song for it.   Check out videos of both the audition and John’s response now.

PRINCE TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Prince is expected to receive this year’s BET Lifetime Achievement Award during the BET Awards! The singer, who joins previously recipients like Chaka Kahn and Whitney Houston, is being honored for his contributions in music. The 2010 BET Awards will include performances from Drake, Kanye West, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, T.I. and more. EMINEM EXPLAINS NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

Emimen openly recalled his drug-related near death experience with CNN’s Showbiz Tonight. After revealing that he was near “two hours” away from dying, Slim Shady admits “it took awhile to admit [he] actually did have a problem.” As far as being in denial, the rapper explained “the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.” In related news, Em’s Recovery album was pushed up one day and will now drop on Monday June 21st.

TREY TITLES NEXT LP, LEAKS “TAKE YOU HOME”

Just one day after announcing his summer tour with Monica, we’ve learned Trey Songz has already titled his upcoming fourth studio album. The “Say Ahh” singer has named project Passion, Pain & Pleasure — which shares the same name as his tour. In addition, ConcreteLoop.com has gotten a hold of a new song called “Take You Home.” The Timbaland-produced track could potentially make the tracklisting for Passion, Pain & Pleasure, which drops on September 14th.

AARON LEWIS HOSTS CHARITY CONCERT

On Saturday, August 14th, Aaron Lewis of Staind is throwing a charity concert in Northampton, Massachusetts. The show, which will also feature Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down, will benefit the It Takes a Community Foundation. The organization focuses on reviving rural areas in New England. SLASH WANTED JACKSON ON ALBUM

Slash got a lot of guest vocalists to help him out on his new solo album, but the guitarist has now revealed that he also wanted Michael Jackson to lend his voice to the set.   According to AceShowbiz.com, Slash said, “When I was thinking about who I wanted to work with, Michael crossed my mind.   I thought about doing something that would see him totally cross over into rock.”   Slash said this was all around the time Jackson was rehearsing for his series of London shows so he just assumed Michael wouldn’t have had the time.   The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist went on to say that he never saw the Jackson film This Is It because he didn’t want to “have anything to do with everybody capitalizing on his death.”   Slash played lead solos on a handful of Jackson’s hits including “Give Into Me” and “Black or White.”
