NICK CANNON ADDRESSES MARIAH’S BABY RUMORS

Yesterday, RadarOnline.com reported Mariah Carey was expecting her first child with Nick Cannon. The currently unconfirmed news prompted her husband to write on his Twitter page, “If & when my wife is ready to make any announcements about private matters she will do it personally.” In related news, People.com reports the couple has already chosen baby names picked out. Cannon joked that no matter how many they have, they will all be named after Mariah.

IDOL CHAMP IS HAVING TROUBLE SELLING SINGLE

Recently crowned American Idol champion Lee DeWyze is having a little bit of trouble selling his first single, a cover of U2’s “Beautiful Day.”   According to PerezHilton.com, it has only been downloaded 95-thousand times, while last year’s winner Kris Allen’s first single “No Boundaries” was downloaded 134-thousand times in its first week.   Also, 2008 winner David Cook sold 236-thosuand copies of his single “The Time of My Life.”

JENNIFER HUDSON TWEETS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

Jennifer Hudson recently tweeted about the status of her upcoming sophomore album and new Winnie Mandela biopic. The singer wrote to her fans: “Haven’t checked in with you guys in awhile. Working overtime in South Africa right now – Winnie movie by day, hot new album by night.” J-Hud adds she’s working with producers Larry Jackson and Harvey Mason “in Johannesburg cookin’ up somethin’ real hot” and she “can’t wait for [fans] to hear it.” Both projects will be released this fall.

SEE DAUGHTRY AND BRAD ARNOLD PERFORM

Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson and Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down all performed in Nashville over the weekend to raise money for the people affected by the disastrous floods that hit recently hit the area.   Chris Daughtry performed a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” with Clarkson, and another duet has now surfaced on YouTube.   Chris teamed up with Arnold to do a cover of the Allman Brothers’ “Whipping Post.”   Check it out now.

WEEZER PLAYS BUMBERSHOOT

Weezer is set to play the annual Bumbershoot Festival. The event celebrates its 40th birthday this year, and will take place on September 4th-6th in Seattle.   Other acts confirmed include Bob Dylan, Hole, Rise Against and more. Bumbershoot.org has more details.

JOHN MAYER TOUR CANCELLATION DETAILS

Details are coming out as to why John Mayer had to cancel the remaining dates on his European Battle Studies tour.   A source tells HollywoodLife.com that the singer-songwriter “is recovering from a horrible food poisoning episode” and that it was the “backstage catering” from his gig in Copenhagen on Monday that gave him the stomach issues.   A rep for Mayer wouldn’t return the website’s request for comment.

NELLY PREPARES COMEBACK ALBUM

Nelly is currently recording a new album called Nelly 5.0. In addition to working with producers like Rico Love and Polow Da Don, the St. Louis rapper has secured features with T.I., Diddy, Akon and Kelly Rowland. According to Rap-Up.com, the first single off the project will be “Tippin’ in the Club” and fans can expect Nelly 5.0 to arrive later this year. In addition, the rap star intends to release an album, titled City Free, with his St. Lunatics group on July 27th.
