GAGA GETS SUED FOR $30.5-MILLION

Lady Gaga is getting sued, and it’s for a large sum of money.   According to the Associated Press, songwriter and music producer Rob Fusari is claiming that he came up with her stage name, co-wrote some of her songs, and played a large role in her getting a record deal, and that the pop star proceeded to turn her back on him.   Fusari, who has writing credits on a number of songs for artists such as Will Smith and Destiny’s Child, is suing for 30.5-million dollars.   The lawsuit says that Fusari is entitled to 20-percent of song royalties and 15-percent of merchandising revenue.   It also claims that Gaga and Fusari’s relationship was not only professional, but romantic as well.   Gaga’s rep did not return the AP’s request for comment.

LADY GAGA CALLS VIDEO “GROUNDBREAKING”

Lady Gaga’s new video for her song “Telephone” is making waves, with many people having strong opinions about the racy, almost ten-minute long clip.   In a recent interview, the pop star called the vid “groundbreaking,” and gave some reasons why.   Gaga said, “There are transsexual women and transgender women and suddenly it becomes poisonous and something else because there are some people in this world that believe being gay is a choice. It’s not a choice, we’re born this way. That’s why for me this video is groundbreaking because it has one foot in the art community and one foot in the commercial world.”

DRAKE TALKS JAY-Z COLLABORATION

According to MTV News, Drake is spilling on his collaboration with Jay-Z from his upcoming debut album, Thank Me Later. Drizzy told MTV, “It’s just me and Jay both rapping on it for an extended period of time. It’s real rap. It’s real rap. I do sing on it, but it’s just on the hook – but it’s rap. It’s great. The perspective, the dynamic on the track – it’s me and Jay’s relationship on the song, basically. When you hear it, people will be like, ‘Oh man.’” Drake added, “He definitely has guided me a lot, as far as his words and his advice. We have a real funny rapport. I always enjoy my conversations with Jay. It’s good.”

CHRIS BROWN HEADLINES BET SPRING BLING

We’ve just learned Chris Brown will command the spotlight during this year’s BET Spring Bling. The “Crawl” singer will headline the spring break concert series, which will be held in West Palm Beach on April 10th. The R&B star phoned into 106 & Park to tell fans that they don’t want to miss it. WHITNEY SADDENED BY TODAY’S POP STARS

During a recent interview on her Nothing But Love tour, Whitney Houston touched on today’s pop stars doing too much and not remaining true to themselves. Without naming names, the legendary singer stated, “There are some extremely gifted and talented young women and young men out there who don’t have to really put on Halloween costumes, just be themselves.” Houston added, “A little extravagance, a little flair, a little sexiness or a sultriness is cool, but some of them are very dark. … To me, it’s not becoming.” Hmm, we wonder who she’s referring to. IS IT SERIOUS BETWEEN MILEY AND LIAM?

Are things getting serious between Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth?   It sure seems like it.   According to E! Online, the pop star met Liam’s parents, and he said that they “loved her.”   Liam is from Australia and Miley told E! that she really enjoyed her time Down Under, calling it “awesome” and saying it was “kind of like Nashville by the sea.”

MILEY TALKS TWITTER

It was a pretty big deal when Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account a little while back, and now she’s finally talking about why she did it.   According to PerezHilton.com, the Disney star said it was because she wrote about being in favor of gay marriage, and that she got “hate mail” and people calling her a “bad person” because of it.   Read what else Miley had to say on the topic at PerezHilton.com.

Lady Antebellum Hits No. 1 on Adult Pop Chart

Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” has reached number one on Billboard’s Adult Pop songs chart, which reflects mainstream Top 40 and Hot AC radio airplay. “Need You Now,” which spent five weeks atop the trade publication’s country songs chart, is only the second number one country song to cross over to the top of the Adult Pop chart, following Faith Hill’s “Breathe,” which did it in April 2000.  

TAYLOR SWIFT HAS A PARTY

Taylor Swift thanked her key supporters in the music industry during a private party at a restaurant in Nashville last week. The party also recognized four of her most recent number one hits – “Should’ve Said No,” “Love Story,” “White Horse” and “You Belong With Me.” Taylor told the audience, “I just hope you know how happy you’ve made me. I never expected I would get to stand up at awards shows as much as I have over the last year for this album. I’m so happy I was allowed to make the album I made. And I’m proud of the people this happened to along with me. This was not wasted on us. We all appreciate it so much.”

DAVID COOK DOES THE ROLLING STONES

Last week on American Idol, David Cook performed The Rolling Stones’ classic “Jumping Jack Flash.”   Don’t worry if you missed it, because you can download both the audio and the video from Cook’s performance now at iTunes.   The “Light On” singer has been busy in the studio, working on the follow-up to his Platinum-selling self-titled debut.

GREEN DAY START WORK ON NEW ALBUM

According to NME, Green Day has begun work on their next record. Singer Billie Joe Armstrong revealed they started writing the follow-up to 21st Century Breakdown in October. They’ve done demos in Berlin, Stockholm, Glasgow and Amsterdam so far. Green Day say they won’t wait as long to release the upcoming album as they did between American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, when the trio took five years between records. <SH>

Green Day has just announced that they’re working on their follow-up to 21st Century Breakdown. If that’s not enough, they’ve got their Rock Band video game debuting later this year and a play on Broadway in the works. Now you can also see singer Billie Joe Armstrong on the cover of the April issue of Spin magazine.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD FEELS GUILTY FOR CAREER

Carrie Underwood has had much success in the past couple years, including five GRAMMY Awards and a sold-out headlining tour, and apparently, the former American Idol feels guilty about it all.   Carrie told Allure magazine, “Going to Hollywood and seeing all those people, there were beautiful women who were talented, and for some reason or another, they didn’t make it and I did. I’m grateful, but I guess I’m a little guilty.”   She also puts rumors to rest that American Idol controls each contestant’s future, saying, “If I don’t want to perform on it, I don’t have to ever again. Of course, I will because I’m not a little snot.”

NEW JANET JACKSON SINGLE COMING

Janet Jackson is scheduled to release a new song later this month. The news comes from the Twitter of Janet’s ex-boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri, who said the singer’s new single, “Nothing,” serves as the lead offering from the Why Did I Get Married Too soundtrack. Fans can expect to hear it on March 30th.

Why Did I Get Married Too hits theaters on Friday, April 2nd.

GORILLAZ TOP CHARTS AROUND THE WORLD

According to Billboard, Gorillaz are at number one on the Billboard European Charts with their new album Plastic Beach. All three Gorillaz albums have taken the number one spot on that chart. Meanwhile, Plastic Beach is at number two on the British charts.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE UPDATE FROM THE STUDIO!

My Chemical Romance has finally sent an update from the studio! The band talk about the recording of their follow-up to The Black Parade on MyChemicalRomance.com, saying that they’ve written two-and-a-half records of material so far. Guitarist Frank Iero said, “It feels as though everything we’ve ever done has been leading up to this moment.” No word as to when we will finally hear the new MCR record, but Iero did reveal that he is expecting twins with his wife later this year. Congrats!
