KE$HA’S SEVENTH STRAIGHT WEEK AT NUMBER ONE

Ke$ha scores a seventh week at number on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “TiK ToK.”   Meanwhile, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” climbs one spot to number two, which is now the song’s highest rank to date. Rising one notch to number three is Young Money’s “BedRock” featuring Lloyd, while the Black Eyed Peas leap seven spots to number four with “Imma Be,” marking their fourth top 10 from their former number one album, The E.N.D.   GRAMMY-winner David Guetta’s “Sexy Chick” featuring Akon shoots up two spots to number five, and Ludacris’ “How Low” surges six slots to number six.    

DRAKE “DOWN” FOR SWIFT COLLABORATION

Drake is still coming down from his GRAMMY high after performing on the big stage with Lil Wayne, Eminem and Travis Barker.   He told MTV News that he would love to collaborate with GRAMMY-winner Taylor Swift, saying, “I just have this small little thing with her; I just like her whole being. I’m excited about her career.” Swift has already dabbled in hip-hop. Who could forget T-Swizzles memorable “Thug Life” duet with T-Pain at the CMT Awards last year?   And long before Swift and Kanye West’s VMA incident, Taylor told MTV News that she wouldn’t mind hitting the studio with him. <JC>

3OH!3 & COBRA STARSHIP ANNOUNCE TOO FAST FOR LOVE TOUR

3OH!3 and Cobra Starship have announced a co-headlining trek called the Too Fast For Love Tour, which will be presented by MTV.   The jaunt will take off in Milwaukee on April 28th and then travel through North America before in Philadelphia on June 11th.   The outing will also feature Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes performing his first-ever solo live performances, as well as a set from I Fight Dragons.   A select number of tour dates will be part of mtvU’s second annual Movies & Music Festival, which features the hottest performers and most buzzed about movies leading up to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.   Additionally, the week before the Movie Awards, 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship will host a movie-award themed week during MTV’s morning music program, AMTV, and explosive performances from the festival will be featured on MTV.  

JUSTIN BIEBER ON THE EARLY SHOW

Justin Bieber is performing four songs on CBS’ Early Show this morning.   The performances will beam in from Miami, Florida.   Bieber is in Miami for the Super Bowl and the big BET Haiti benefit concert tonight.   His debut album, My World, has just gone platinum and his follow-up, My World 2.0, will be released on March 23rd.   His current single is “Baby” featuring Ludacris.   For more Bieber, check out JustinBieberMusic.com.

P!NK IS ON OPRAH TODAY

P!nk is in Chicago because the pop star is going to be appearing live on The Oprah Winfrey Show today.   The “Sober” singer took to her Twitter account to say that the reason she’s going on the hit program is because the talk-show queen thoroughly enjoyed her GRAMMY performance.   Check your local listings for when and where to watch.

KELLY CLARKSON STICKS UP FOR TAYLOR SWIFT

The president of Taylor Swift’s record label kind of came out in defense of his artist for what many people are calling the poor performance she gave at the GRAMMY Awards over the weekend.   According to the New York Times, Scott Borchetta defended Swift, but did it by saying that she may not be the “best technical singer.”   This apparently really angered Kelly Clarkson, because she wrote an open letter on her blog to Borchetta, saying that “every artist has a bad performance or two” and that he needs to realize that “sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.”   Read what else Kelly has to say, including thoughts about Borchetta insulting American Idol, at IAmKelly.Wordpress.com.

AMY WINEHOUSE IS HEADING TO JAMAICA

Details about how far along Amy Winehouse is on the highly anticipated follow-up to her hit debut album Back to Black have been scarce, but now some information has been revealed.   NME.com is reporting that the embattled singer-songwriter is “almost finished” with the still untitled work, and she’s heading to Jamaica to put the finishing touches on it.   A source told British paper The Sun that Winehouse has been told “it’s not a party” and that she “has to work.”

JOHN MAYER TO GO DOWN UNDER

John Mayer has just announced that he will be taking his Battle Studies tour to Australia and New Zealand, his first full trek down under in nearly three years.   It kicks off on April 27th in Wellington, New Zealand and will wrap up on May 8th in Sydney, Australia.   Get more info on the tour at JohnMayer.com.

UNDERWOOD TO STAR IN HER FIRST FILM

It’s now confirmed that Carrie Underwood will play a supporting role her first studio movie, Soul Surfer. The inspirational film is based on the autobiography of 19-year-old champion surfer Bethany Hamilton, who, for over six years, has defied all odds to compete and win professional championships after losing her arm in a shark attack at age 13. Carrie will play “Sarah Hill,” a church youth leader. Filming for the movie starts this month.

SWIFT TAKES YOU BACKSTAGE AT the GRAMMYS

Taylor Swift taped a special behind the scenes look at the GRAMMYS for The Ellen DeGeneres Show. It shows Taylor sitting at the same table as Carrie Underwood at the Clive Davis Pre-GRAMMY Gala where she also got to meet Barbra Streisand for the first time. The footage also documents Taylor waiting to walk the red carpet and practicing how to walk in her long GRAMMY gown. She also explains to show fans why she felt like she would win at least one GRAMMY. Swift said her lucky number is 13 and while she was getting her makeup done, she realized the seat and row numbers on her two tickets added up to 13.

SWIFT AND MONTEITH ARE JUST FRIENDS

Sources have confirmed to E! that Taylor Swift and Glee star Cory Monteith are not dating. The two sat next to each other at the Clive Davis Pre-GRAMMY Gala which started rumors the were dating. However, Monteith has been seen in Los Angeles night clubs with another blonde and it’s known that he isn’t exclusive with anyone at this time. Monteith is also not a fan of Valentine’s Day, so anyone he had been seeing shouldn’t be expecting a box of chocolates or flowers.  

KATY PERRY’S VALENTINE’S DAY PLANS

What do you get your fiancé for Valentine’s Day?   Well if you’re Katy Perry, apparently you think about getting Russell Brand a spanking new Bentley!   British paper The Daily Star reports that a source says Perry “really thought about this” and has been talking to a dealership in Newport Beach, California “for weeks now.”   The particular version of vehicle that she’s looking at is supposed to be the same make and model that the late Who drummer Keith Moon used to own.

JOHN MAYER GIVES BACK

John Mayer may come off as a little self-centered at times, but he also does his part to help the less fortunate.   According to OK! magazine, the singer-songwriter gave his song “The Heart of Life” to the Red Cross to be used in their public service announcements on TV and radio.   Also, Mayer donated 500-thousand dollars to the organization to help relief efforts in Haiti.

SARA BAREILLES LIKES AMERICAN IDOL

Sara Bareilles didn’t need American Idol to help her to become a popular musician, but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy the show!   The singer-songwriter took to her Twitter account to write that the hit program makes her “laugh and cry all at once.”   See what else the “Love Song” singer has to say at Twitter.com/SaraBareilles.

NE-YO EYES SUMMER RELEASE FOR NEXT ALBUM

SingersRoom.com reports Ne-Yo is hard at work on his upcoming fourth studio album. Details on the follow-up to 2008’s Year of the Gentleman are sparse, however fans can expect the project to hit stores as early as August of this year.

LIL WAYNE’S PREDICTED ALBUM SALES

According to HitsDailyDouble.com, the predicted sales for Lil Wayne’s Rebirth album won’t come anywhere near the impressive one-million-units-sold sales for his Tha Carter III disc. Instead, Weezy’s rock inspired project is on pace to move an estimated 150-thousand copies. We won’t know for sure until the Nielsen SoundScan numbers come out next week, however the numerous delays and extensive leaks might have taken a toll on the overall success of Wayne’s Rebirth.

EMINEM DENIES RECONCILIATION WITH EX-WIFE

On Wednesday afternoon, rumors spread that Eminem had reconciled with his estranged ex-wife, Kim. However, Slim Shady has denounced those claims in the following statement:

“Contrary to false rumors spread by unreliable tabloids, Marshall and Kim Mathers are not romantically reunited in any way, nor are they expecting a child together. They are a divorced couple who share custody of their daughter and maintain a friendly relationship.”

FANTASIA SPEAKS ON SPLIT FROM YOUNG DRO

MTV News found out why Fantasia broke it off with her ex-boyfriend, Young Dro, after two years of dating. The former American Idol winner explained that they “remain friends” however, she’s manly just focused on her career right now. Fanny stated being in a relationship “interfered with everything else” including performing and making music. For now, the singer is calling her career her “boo” and is promoting the release of her new single, “Even Angels.”

MYLES KENNEDY TO SING FOR SLASH

Slash has posted an update on his MySpace page, revealing that Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy will take care of vocals when the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist hits the road this year to promote his upcoming solo album.   Slash wrote that “Myles sang a killer track on the record and I think he is by far one of the best rock and roll singers out there today.”   Meanwhile, as Slash decides where to tour, he’s asking fans to use Twitter to let him know where they want to see him.   Do that at Twitter.com/SlashHudson and read more at MySpace.com/Slash.   Slash’s album comes out in April.
